Product Description
The Lollar Novel sB Neck pickup in Matte Black / Nickel delivers the thicker, more powerful voice of a vintage-style humbucker or P-90 while keeping the clarity and definition you would expect from a high-end single coil. Built by taking one side of Lollar’s acclaimed dB humbucker and housing it in a standard humbucker footprint, it drops straight into a regular humbucker route and gives you a smooth, vocal lower midrange with excellent sustain and note bloom.
Designed for players who love the look, feel and output of the dB humbucker but want a blade-style single coil in the neck position, the Novel sB is an ideal partner for a dB bridge or as part of a matched Novel sB set. With an average DC resistance of 5.6k in the neck, it offers a touch more girth than a traditional single coil while remaining open, articulate and highly responsive to your playing dynamics.
The continuous blade design ensures even string-to-string balance, no matter how you bend or how your pickups are adjusted. Chords stay clear and complex, while single notes have a focused attack that blooms into a rich sustain, making this pickup equally at home with clean, edge-of-breakup and driven tones. If you want a neck sound that is thicker and more vocal without losing detail, the Novel sB is a compelling upgrade.
Finished in a sleek Matte Black / Nickel, it also complements a wide range of guitar aesthetics, from modern hot-rodded builds to more traditional instruments that need a subtle visual twist.
Blade-Style Single Coil in a Humbucker Route
The Novel sB takes one coil from Lollar’s dB humbucker and fits it into a standard humbucker-sized cover, so it drops straight into a traditional humbucker route. This makes it an easy retrofit for many guitars, giving you blade single-coil tone and response without any routing or modification.
Thicker Voice with Clear Definition
Voiced to be thicker and more substantial than a typical single coil, the Novel sB still retains excellent clarity and note separation. You get a vocal lower midrange and smooth top end reminiscent of a refined vintage humbucker or P-90, ideal for players who want warmth and body without sacrificing articulation.
Enhanced Sustain and Note Bloom
One of the standout characteristics of the Novel sB is the way notes attack and then bloom into sustain. This makes lead lines feel expressive and three-dimensional, and adds a musical, singing quality to your phrasing whether you are playing clean or with overdrive.
Perfect Match for the Lollar dB Humbucker
Developed in response to players asking for a blade-style neck pickup to complement the full-sized dB humbucker, the Novel sB pairs naturally with a dB in the bridge. This gives you a cohesive two-pickup set that shares a similar aesthetic, output and tonal character, with the added versatility of a single coil in the neck position.
Features
- Single-Coil Blade Design - The continuous blade polepiece delivers even output across all strings, no matter your string spacing or bending style. This ensures consistent volume and tone for chords, riffs and wide bends alike.
- Thick, Vocal Neck Tone - Voiced with a strong lower midrange and smooth highs, the Novel sB offers a neck sound reminiscent of a rounded vintage humbucker or P-90. This gives you a fuller, more vocal tone that still cuts through a mix.
- Drop-In Humbucker Footprint - Designed to fit a traditional humbucker route, the Novel sB installs as a direct replacement in many guitars. You can upgrade to Lollar blade single-coil tone without altering your instrument.
- Optimised for Musical Dynamics - With an average DC resistance of 5.6k in the neck, the pickup responds sensitively to your picking attack and volume control. Clean tones stay articulate, while driven sounds gain sustain and harmonic richness without getting muddy.
