Product Description
The Ibanez MDM1006 is a cutting-edge 6-string bass that reimagines a classic silhouette for modern players. Loaded with advanced electronics, a roasted Maple neck and ultra-precise hardware, it's built to cover everything from traditional low-end support to highly technical, extended-range work with clarity and comfort.
Part of the Ibanez Mode Series, this instrument blends the familiar feel and punch of a legendary bass design with contemporary playability and huge tonal flexibility. With a 34" scale, 24 frets, active Sonitech S preamp and powerful Delta S6J pickups, the MDM1006-PW is ready for demanding studio sessions, progressive gigs and everything in between.
Modern take on a classic bass formula
The Mode Series honours the core elements that made this style of bass a staple across countless genres, while refining the ergonomics and sound for today’s players. An Alder body provides a bright, balanced acoustic voice with plenty of resonance and sustain, giving you a familiar foundation that sits perfectly in a mix whether you are playing rock, pop, fusion or metal.
Roasted Maple neck with 'Super All Access' joint
The roasted Maple MDM6 neck is heat-treated for improved stability, durability and resistance to changes in temperature and humidity. Graphite reinforcement rods further enhance stiffness and sustain, so your tuning and setup stay consistent. The 'Super All Access' neck joint and satin polyurethane finish make upper fret access smooth and effortless, ideal for solos and extended-range lines on a 6-string bass.
Delta S6J pickups & Sonitech S preamp
A pair of Delta S6J pickups delivers a crisp high-end attack, punchy mids and a tight, powerful low end that responds beautifully to different playing techniques. The Ibanez Sonitech S Preamp 3-band EQ offers two selectable mid-range banks via the Hexa Mid system, plus a passive tone control and EQ bypass push/pull. This gives you everything from classic, passive-style warmth to aggressive, sculpted modern tones at the flick of a switch.
Lightweight hardware & player-focused details
Ibanez Aero-Light machine heads use Extra Super Duralumin keys to reduce headstock weight, improving overall balance and reducing fatigue on long sets. The MR5S bridge offers adjustable string spacing by +/- 1.5 mm around an 18 mm base, so you can fine-tune the feel to your technique. Medium stainless steel frets provide long-lasting durability, while luminescent side dots keep you oriented on dark stages.
Features
- Roasted Maple neck with Rosewood fingerboard: The roasted Maple neck with graphite reinforcement rods offers enhanced stability, while the Rosewood fingerboard adds a solid, balanced tone with focused mids. Together they provide a fast, comfortable playing feel that inspires confidence.
- Stainless steel frets: Stay smooth and shiny for years, resisting wear and corrosion so your notes will pop with clarity every time.
- Luminescent side dots: These ensure you can see your position clearly on dark stages, keeping your playing precise in any lighting.
- Delta S6J pickups with Sonitech S 3-band EQ: Delta S6J pickups deliver a crisp, articulate response with punchy mids and tight lows, ideal for a wide range of styles. Paired with the Sonitech S preamp, dual midrange banks and passive tone control, you get a huge palette of usable tones at your fingertips.
- MR5S bridge with adjustable string spacing: The MR5S bridge allows you to fine-tune string spacing by +/- 1.5 mm around the standard 18 mm setting, so you can dial in the perfect feel for fingerstyle, pick or slap techniques.
- Lightweight Aero-Light machine heads: Reduce headstock weight for improved balance without sacrificing tuning stability, making long gigs more comfortable.
