Product Description
The Ibanez AZ22S2 AZ Standard in Mint Green is a modern workhorse designed to handle everything from soulful blues to high-gain shred. With a super comfortable roasted maple neck, versatile HSS pickup configuration and the powerful dyna-MIX9 switching system, this is a guitar that adapts effortlessly to whatever style you throw at it.
Built around the acclaimed AZ platform, the AZ22S2 combines a balanced alder body, a slick Super All Access neck joint and rock-solid hardware to deliver outstanding playability and tuning stability. Whether you are playing intricate lead lines high up the neck or chunky rhythm parts with plenty of vibrato, the AZ22S2 gives you the feel and tone you need, night after night.
Effortless AZ Playability
The AZ series is all about player comfort, and the AZ22S2 continues that tradition with a smooth, oval neck grip that sits naturally in the hand. The Super All Access Neck Joint makes it easy to reach the highest frets without strain, so fast runs, wide bends and complex chord shapes feel relaxed and controlled. Combined with the well-balanced, asymmetrical body shape, this guitar feels equally at home on long rehearsals, studio sessions or stage performances.
Roasted Maple Neck and Jatoba Fretboard
The roasted maple neck is heat-treated for increased stability, durability and resistance to changes in temperature and humidity. This means fewer tuning issues and a neck that feels consistently solid wherever you play. The jatoba fretboard adds a rich midrange and crisp high end, helping every note cut through the mix with clarity while still sounding musical and warm.
Stainless Steel Frets and Precision Hardware
Jumbo stainless steel frets offer a smooth, fast playing surface with excellent corrosion resistance, so your frets stay in top condition for longer. Their wide and tall profile makes bending easier and improves note definition, whether you are playing chords or single-note lines. Locking machine heads keep tuning stable during heavy playing and tremolo use, while the T106 tremolo bridge with six independent saddles allows precise height and intonation adjustment for each string.
Versatile Ibanez Classic Custom Pickups with dyna-MIX9
The AZ22S2 is loaded with Ibanez Classic Custom pickups in a flexible HSS configuration. Alnico single coils in the neck and middle positions provide warm, clear tones perfect for cleans and edge-of-breakup sounds, while the ceramic bridge humbucker delivers powerful, dynamic output for rock and metal. The dyna-MIX9 switching system with Alter Switch unlocks nine distinct sounds, letting you move between humbucker and single coil voices at the flick of a mini switch, including a mode that simulates a humbucking tone using two single coils.
Features
- Roasted Maple Neck - The heat-treated roasted maple neck offers enhanced stability and durability, resisting moisture and temperature changes so your guitar stays feeling and playing consistently well in different environments.
- Ibanez Classic Custom HSS Pickups - A pair of alnico single coils and a ceramic bridge humbucker provide everything from glassy cleans to tight, aggressive distortion, giving you a wide tonal palette suitable for multiple genres.
