Product Description

The Guild USA F-40 Standard in Natural is a classic jumbo acoustic built in the United States* and voiced for players who want big, room-filling tone with a refined, vintage character. With a solid Sitka spruce top, solid African mahogany back and sides and forward-shifted scalloped bracing, it delivers a powerful, well-balanced sound that suits everything from fingerpicked folk to hard-strummed country and rock. Finished in Guild’s Natural Vintage Gloss nitro, it looks and feels like a well-loved instrument from day one.

Combining a comfortable mahogany C-shape neck, Indian rosewood fingerboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle and deluxe vintage open-gear tuners, the F-40 Standard is built to perform reliably on stage, in the studio or at home. Its responsive dynamics, strong projection and warm yet articulate voice make it a superb choice for singer-songwriters and rhythm players who need their acoustic to sit confidently in a mix without losing nuance.

Classic Guild Jumbo Power

Guild jumbo acoustics have been celebrated for more than half a century for their huge, authoritative sound, and the F-40 Standard continues that legacy. The large, rounded F-jumbo body creates a generous internal air chamber that naturally boosts low-end response while keeping the mids and highs open and musical. Whether you play with a heavy pick attack or a more relaxed strum, the F-40 delivers depth, headroom and projection that easily fills a room without feeling boomy or uncontrolled.

Natural Vintage Gloss Nitro Finish

The ultra-thin Natural Vintage Gloss nitrocellulose finish combines subtle satin and gloss qualities to showcase the beauty of the Sitka spruce and African mahogany. Because it is so thin, it allows the body to resonate more freely, enhancing sustain and responsiveness compared to thicker poly finishes. Visually, it gives the guitar a gently aged, played-in look and feel, so it already feels like an old favourite the first time you pick it up.

Premium Solid Tonewoods

The F-40 Standard is built entirely from solid tonewoods selected for both sound and stability. A solid Sitka spruce top provides clarity, definition and dynamic range, while the solid African mahogany back and sides add warmth, woody midrange and an earthy richness. Together they create a powerful yet balanced voice that responds beautifully to both delicate fingerpicking and aggressive strumming, making this a versatile workhorse for a wide range of styles.

Comfortable Neck and Reliable Hardware

A mahogany C-shape neck with a 25 5/8 inch scale length and 1 11/16 inch nut width offers a familiar, comfortable feel for both chord work and single-note lines. The Indian rosewood fingerboard and bridge add smoothness and sustain, while the compensated bone saddle and bone nut help maximise tuning stability and tonal clarity. Guild Deluxe Vintage open-gear tuners with cream oval buttons provide precise, reliable tuning and a classic aesthetic that matches the tortoiseshell pickguard, white binding and Guild Peak headstock inlay.

Features
  • Powerful F-Jumbo Body Shape - The large, rounded F-jumbo body produces a bold, room-filling sound with strong bass and clear highs. This makes the F-40 Standard ideal for strummers and singer-songwriters who need their acoustic to cut through a band mix while still sounding rich and full when played solo.
  • Solid Sitka Spruce Top with African Mahogany Back and Sides - A solid Sitka spruce top delivers brightness, clarity and dynamic response, while solid African mahogany back and sides add warmth and an earthy, woody character. The result is a powerful yet balanced tone that works equally well for fingerstyle, flatpicking and heavy rhythm playing.
  • Natural Vintage Gloss Nitro Finish - The ultra-thin nitrocellulose finish combines a subtle sheen with a worn-in feel, enhancing resonance and giving the guitar a vintage aesthetic straight out of the case. It lets the wood breathe and age gracefully over time, so the tone can continue to open up the more you play.
  • Comfortable C-Shape Neck and Vintage-Style Hardware - The mahogany C-shape neck, Indian rosewood fingerboard and bone nut provide a smooth, familiar playing feel with excellent tuning stability. Guild Deluxe Vintage open-gear tuners and classic appointments like the tortoiseshell pickguard and Guild Peak headstock inlay complete a guitar that looks as timeless as it sounds.
