Gretsch Energy 22" Acoustic Shell Pack in Black Fame

The Gretsch Energy 22" Acoustic Shell Pack in Black Flame is a full-sized, six-piece drum kit shell pack that gives you the classic Gretsch look and sound at an accessible price. With 7-ply poplar shells, a sleek wrap finish and chrome hardware, it is a powerful, versatile foundation for rock, pop, worship and rehearsal spaces, as well as ambitious beginners stepping up to their first serious kit.

Centred around a punchy 22" kick drum, the Energy shell pack delivers a balanced, musical voice across its three rack toms, two floor toms and matching snare. The 30° Gretsch bearing edges and 1.6 mm steel hoops help the drums tune up easily and speak clearly at any dynamic, while the included Catalina GTS tom mount ensures stable, flexible positioning of your rack toms.

Finished in striking Black Flame with chrome-plated hardware, this kit looks as good as it sounds under stage lights or in the studio. Whether you are building your first full drum rig or upgrading from a starter kit, the Gretsch Energy series offers a confident step into the world of proper acoustic drums with a configuration that will grow with your playing.

Classic Gretsch Energy Series Voice

The Energy series is designed to capture the characterful Gretsch sound in an approachable package. The 7-ply poplar shells provide a warm, focused tone with plenty of attack, making it easy to cut through a band mix without losing musicality. This combination of clarity and control is ideal for developing drummers and working players alike.

Versatile Six-Piece Configuration

With a 22" kick, three compact rack toms, two floor toms and a 14" snare, this shell pack covers everything from tight, articulate grooves to big, open fills. The dual floor toms give you extended low-end options for rock and fusion, while the smaller rack toms respond quickly for faster patterns and dynamic playing.

Reliable Construction and Hardware

Durable wrap finishes, chrome-plated shell hardware and 1.6 mm steel hoops combine to create a robust kit that stands up to regular use. The hoops hold tuning securely and give the drums a crisp, defined attack, while the wrap finish helps protect the shells and keeps the kit looking sharp over time.

Catalina GTS Tom Mount

The inclusion of the Catalina GTS tom mount on the 2023 model allows for secure yet flexible positioning of your rack toms. This mounting system helps the toms resonate more freely than traditional drilled mounts, improving sustain and tone while giving you the freedom to dial in a comfortable, ergonomic playing setup.

• 7-Ply Poplar Shells - Poplar delivers a warm, controlled tone with a smooth midrange and quick response, making it easy to achieve musical sounds at a wide range of tunings. This helps developing drummers find their sound quickly while offering enough nuance for more experienced players.
• Comprehensive Six-Piece Setup - The combination of 22" kick, three rack toms, two floor toms and a 14" snare gives you a versatile platform for multiple genres. From compact, tight setups to expansive, tom-heavy arrangements, the configuration adapts to your playing style as it evolves.
• 30° Gretsch Bearing Edges - The classic 30° bearing edge promotes strong head-to-shell contact, enhancing warmth, sustain and tuning stability. This makes the kit easier to tune and keeps it sounding consistent across rehearsals, gigs and recording sessions.
• Black Flame Wrap with Chrome Hardware - The Black Flame finish and chrome-plated hardware give the kit a bold, modern look that stands out on stage. The durable wrap also helps protect the shells from everyday knocks and scrapes, so your kit keeps its visual impact for longer.
