The Special featured a duo of Soapbar P-90 pickups in combination with volume and tone controls for each pickup, as well as a 3-way selector switch, thus allowing players to fully explore the complete tonal spectrum offered on high-end Gibson models. Like the Junior model, the Special is built around a slab Mahogany body, which provides a balanced, well-rounded tone with singing sustain and the famed mid-range punch that all Mahogany Gibsons are famed for. Its full-access neck is elegantly bound for a classy aesthetic with unparalleled access up and down the fingerboard.
