Product Description
Gibson are serving up the goods to us metallers with the ELEV8 pickup series – their first ever Alnico 8 magnet designs paired with custom-gauge wiring, voiced with a tight low-end while still channelling plenty of power, brightness and clarity.
Vintage and modern underwound blend
These slightly underwound 8k humbuckers produce an outstanding tone for modern hard rock and metal where sharp attack and focus is crucial when tuning low for heavily saturated distortion, or even loading up on gain in standard tuning for thrash and post hardcore styles. What underwound pickups bring you is a touch lower output, a more rounded and softer quality that gives just a snippet of Gibson's traditional PAF tone.
Expanded Tonal Flexibility
ELEV8 pickups are ready for coil splitting and advanced switching options to be installed thanks to 4-conductor wiring. This added versatility allows you to move seamlessly between the thicker humbucking tones and brighter dynamic sounds akin to a single-coil pickup without having to change guitars.
Gibson pickup design heritage
Gibson are steeped in pickup making history having created the legendary PAF humbuckers, and the American guitar company have explored a smorgasbord of tonal characteristics over the years with Alnico 2, 3 and 5 designs. This venture into Alnico 8 territory is a first for the legendary brand as they forge ahead into a contemporary musical style.
