V-Mod III pickups

Fender have levelled up their V-Mod pickup series with this third iteration, voicing the two Jazz single-coils for each neck and bridge position. They’re slightly overwound to pack a bigger punch and immediate presence, while still leaning into the old school characteristics of warmth and clarity that made the original Jazz basses so desirable.

A nice little touch is the addition of ClassicGear potentiometers tuned with a custom torque allowing for smooth volume and tone swells to incorporate into your playing. They’re consistent in sound and feel great, adding to the excellent feel of this American Pro Jazz.

Updated agile playing feel

What sets the Jazz apart from the Precision bass in the American Pro line-up and prior USA models is the neck profile, which completely changes the way this bass feels and ultimately determines your approach to the instrument. The maple wood slim “C” neck is a much more contemporary component that players familiar with modern styles will immediately recognise.

Combined with the standard Fender 9.5-inch fingerboard radius and the narrow tall frets providing that little touch of retro quality, you’ve got an extremely rapid-playing bass suited to technical nuances. The fingerboard edges have been rolled to give it a nice played-in feel, as if it’s already been broken in by the perfect amount. You’ll also find that the neck heel and neck plate have been rounded off to allow for easy access up to the top frets.

Redesigned hardware and outstanding stability

Two Posiflex graphite rods run through the Jazz bass’ maple neck reinforcing it to combat climate fluctuations. This makes the American Pro an excellent working bass, as you can move from place to place with the peace of mind that the neck hasn’t shifted to the point where differences in heat and humidity affects intonation and tuning stability.

The HiMass bridge design has been overhauled to also provide consistent tuning, resonance through the body and a much more comfortable place to rest your hand – a noticeable step up over previous American Pro guitars.
