Product Description
Released in 1955 as a single-cutaway model, the Gibson Les Paul Special was designed as an upgraded LP Junior, with two P-90 pickups (instead of one) providing greater versatility. It also boasted refined touches like a bound fingerboard and a mother-of-pearl headstock logo. In ’58, the design evolved into a double-cutaway body for improved upper-fret access, and by 1960, the addition of a SlimTaper neck profile and a repositioned neck pickup made it more comfortable and playable than ever.
A rad reissue!
Now, Epiphone has teamed up with Gibson’s Custom Shop division to unveil the 1960 Les Paul Special Double Cut Reissue. It’s an authentic recreation of this highly sought-after classic at an accessible price, featuring a solid Mahogany body and a one-piece Mahogany neck with the fast-playing ’60s SlimTaper profile. This is topped with a Rosewood fingerboard and 22 medium jumbo frets, ensuring smooth chord work and effortless bends.
High-quality hardware
The Gibson “open book” headstock is fitted with Epiphone Deluxe three-on-a-plate tuners with white buttons, along with a Graph Tech nut for rock-solid tuning stability. A vintage-style wraparound bridge with intonation screws anchors the strings and delivers the kind of sustain that made the Special legendary.
Gibson USA P-90 pickups
Tone comes courtesy of two USA-made Gibson Custom P-90 Soapbar pickups, capable of everything from warm cleans to gritty, aggressive drive. They’re hand-wired to individual volume and tone controls using premium CTS pots and Bumblebee paper-in-oil capacitors for authentic vintage response.
Completing the package is a brown vintage-style case with pink plush lining and “Inspired by Gibson Custom” graphics — offering a true old-school experience at an accessible price!
