Pau Ferro Fretboard Electric Guitars
Pau Ferro Fretboard Electric Guitars
Pau Ferro fretboards have boomed in recent years due to the CITES restriction on rosewood trading. It has made its way into a vast majority of production guitars as a direct replacement, and even some high-end custom shop instruments. There’s not much need to explain why in depth – it has the same rich colour and sturdiness of rosewood with the renowned open grain texture.
For the tone chasers out there, pau ferro is, unsurprisingly, incredibly similar to rosewood. It has the same mellow warmth. Pau ferro provides a great stopper to a guitar made of ash or accentuates the properties of mahogany.
Brands such as Epiphone, D’Angelico, Fender and Reverend regularly use pau ferro fretboards for their guitars.
