Product Description

Please check system requirements to ensure that the Kemper Profiling Amp will work with your computer set up. This amp comes with a UK power cable.

The Kemper Profiling Amplifier is without doubt the biggest innovation we think we've seen in the last few years in amp technology. Emulating a classic amp is one thing but this is something quite different. Instead of relying on a company to do the profiling for you, choosing which amps you might want and what settings you'd use, you get all of that technology INCLUDED in the Kemper itself! That means YOU choose what amp you want to emulate, put a mic to the amp and let the Kemper go about its business. It's a little bit like that bit in Ghostbusters where they catch the ghosts in that box. All the soul and subtly of the amp is sucked into the Kemper and stored digital allowing you to sound exactly like that exact amp any time anywhere. Trying to describe it in words is tough so take a look at some of the videos and you'll quickly understand why we're so excited about this piece of gear.

Don't worry if you don't have vintage amps just lying around your house though because the Kemper already comes pre-loaded with loads of awesome profiles and any user can share a profile with another, it's as simple as sending an email! You can get swapping profiles all over the globe!

It's worth noting that while Kemper call this an 'amp' is doesn't have its own power section so you'll need to plug it into a PA or some active speakers. The reason for this is that the Kemper also profiles Cabinets and if you could use the Kemper with a cab your cab would colour the sound and it would no longer sound like the cab that was being modelled! So really it makes more sense to plug straight into a PA/mixing desk and cut out the cab all together!

Now includes Bass Amp Presets!

Kemper says: 'The Profiler now features numerous bass profiles in the factory rig content, including excellent direct profiles taken from the DI output of the bass amps. Additionally, of course players will like the mildly distorted profiles taken from tube-driven bass amps and speakers, captured by microphone.

'In addition to the factory content, we have also released special rig packs containing excellent complete rigs for bass. These are available from the our download page. Players should also be sure to check out the Rig Exchange webpage to download rigs by other users, or even share their own.'

Here's what Kemper say about the Kemper Profiling Amp:

The Kemper Profiler™

The Kemper Profiler™ is the leading-edge digital guitar amplifier and all-in-one effects processor.

Hailed as a game-changer by guitarists the world over, the Profiler™ is the first digital guitar amp to really nail the full and dynamic sound of a guitar or bass amp. This is made possible by a radical, patented technology and concept which we call "Profiling™".

For decades, the electric guitarist has been shackled to the tube amplifier as the only means of achieving "that sound". This magical combination is by no means ideal - the challenge to achieve a consistent sound from the practice room to the studio, and especially to the stage, continues to frustrate guitarists, just as it has since the early 1940s.

Profiling™

With the advent of the Kemper Profiler™, everything has changed. For the first time in history, guitar players are free to create their most individual tones - tones that reflect the very essence of their playing style - and then capture these tones exactly into the digital domain with the unique technology provided by Kemper™.

Profiling™ is the key!

The Best Amps In The World

Feel like you don't have any tube amps worth Profiling™? No problem!

The Profiler™ ships with hundreds of amps and Rigs pre-installed, created by professional musicians and engineers from some of the world’s top studios. In addition, you can access and explore another couple hundreds of Rigs that come bundled in our free Rig Manager software. This premier selection of factory Rigs grants you access to the rarest and finest amps on the planet.
We are constantly refining, updating and extending our free-to-use libraries by fine-tuning the existing catalog and by adding brand new, licensed content. Our goal is to allow our users to explore the full spectrum of guitar culture and heritage, which is why we have strived to create the widest range of Profiles in every possible genre.

Recording Studio

The Profiler™ revolutionizes the typical workflow of a recording session. Guitarists can now move freely between projects - the Profiles of their guitar rigs allowing them to do overdubs or alternative takes whenever they like. You could rent a professional studio for a day or two to create the best Profiles of your amps, and then record in your project studio later - you'll have the exact sound of the professional studio, but with all the time in the world.

Think reamping … Imagine you're working on the final mix of an album - wouldn't it be great to reamp tracks with the exact same sound and response, without having to rebuild the entire recording setup for each song?

On Stage

Playing live is where the PROFILER™ really comes into its own - just spend a little time making PROFILEs in the studio, and you can play live with the exact same sound that you used on your blockbuster hit, only without the need for multiple amp setups on stage. You will sound better than ever before through the PA.

Since the sound of the cabinet you mic’ed in the studio is immortalized in the PROFILE, there is no need to mic a speaker cab on stage. In fact, you don't have to carry a cabinet up on stage at all! You can monitor yourself via the common stage-monitor wedge and save a lot of backache and cargo costs. Not to mention your band mates (and mixing engineer), who might just love you for leaving this very loud sound source at home!

Of course, you might still be drawn to the raw energy that a real cabinet can bring to the rehearsal room and live stage. The KEMPER PROFILER is well prepared for this as well - you can still drive a cabinet by an external power-amp, fed by the monitor outputs of the PROFILER. Or, for ultimate convenience, our 'powered' PROFILER versions are equipped with a built-in Class-D amplifier with up to 600W output. To prevent the amp sound going through two guitar cabinets in a row, the virtual cabinet can be switched off for the outputs feeding the monitor and speakers, while remaining active for the main outputs feeding the PA.

Now, as the real cabinet is only being used as your personal monitor, you can adjust your volume on stage independently, without affecting the signal volume going to front-of-house.

At Home

Let's face it - rocking-out at home is difficult for most of us. Analog tube amps only start to sing at levels where the only neighbors who’ll enjoy your 10min rock’n’roll extravaganza will be the ones who live half-a-mile away! The PROFILER, however, sounds great at any level.

Play it through your home stereo or through headphones. Use the dedicated ‘Space’ effect to make headphones a more pleasurable experience, and to reduce ear fatigue. Play along to your favorite music by connecting your MP3 player to the auxiliary in, and then mixing it with the amp signal.

New OS 7.5

KEMPER announce the immediate availability of the KEMPER PROFILER OS 7.5 adding Acoustic Simulator, Phase Widener, Delay Widener, and Autoswell to the PROFILER’s arsenal of FX.  The KEMPER Rig Manager Version 3.0 brings next level Library management and detailed Rig editing features. Both are free downloads for PROFILER players.

Acoustic Simulator

This is a simple Stomp that turns an electric guitar signal into a pretty authentic acoustic sounding tone. This is designed for the in-between strumming or fingerpicking parts during a live performance: The exact situation where guitarists would step up to an acoustic guitar mounted on a stand. PROFILER players from now on just switch their rig.

For the right seasoning and setting it up for the various guitar and pick up models, the Acoustic Simulator offers the parameters Pickup, Body, Bronze, and Sparkle.

Don‘t expect perfect results, as the mechanics of an acoustic guitar are quite different. The Acoustic Simulator though will simulate the characteristic body resonance and crispness of an acoustic guitar so closely that you might feel able to leave your acoustic guitar at home when you only need it for two or three songs that night.

Phase Widener

The Phase Widener is an effect invented by KEMPER. It creates a wide stereo signal from a mono signal without colouring the result at all. Even when summed back to mono, no colouring will occur.

Delay Widener

This is the condensed version of the well-known stereo-widening trick of delaying one side of a stereo signal by several milliseconds. In contrast to the Phase Widener, the Delay Widener is not mono-compatible and should be checked for coloration when used on a recording. Additionally, the Delay Widener will tend to emphasise the non- delayed side - this is a psychoacoustic artefact. Setting the Delay Widener to about 30 ms should lead to a pleasing result. For all Widener effects, it is mandatory to place them after the Stack section, where the effects are processed in stereo.

Auto Swell

Auto Swell mimics a volume pedal swell with every new strike of the strings. The parameter Swell Rate controls the time of the swell, up to a maximum of 4 seconds. While the Swell Rate controls the attack, a complimentary compressor is also included, to shape the decay of the instrument once it has faded in. The Compressor parameter controls the intensity of the compression.

Output Filters

Low Cut and High Cut filters are available. These will affect all outputs.

S/PDIF Slave Mode

Recent models of the classic PROFILER units (Head, Rack, PowerHead, and PowerRack) now provide the option to run as a slave to an external clock, as all PROFILER Stage units do. This is based on a hardware modification introduced during 2018 and enabled by this OS revision. Units with this capability will show an additional option “Auto/Internal” in the Output Section — this can be found on the same page as SPDIF Volume and SPDIF Clock.

Audio and clock signals are sharing one S/PDIF cable per direction. To avoid crackles and other artefacts two SPDIF cables need to be connected if your PROFILER follows an external clock and sends an audio signal for recording. Two cables need to be connected, too, if the PROFILER is configured as clock master and receiving an audio signal via SPDIF. We recommend affording two SPDIF cables and leaving them plugged in.

New Kemper Drives - Now Released with Profiler OS 8.0.5!

Profiler operating system 'Version 8' adds new overdrives to the Profiler’s FX arsenal. The Kemper Drives establish an entirely new Overdrive-System, inspired by industry-standard pedals like the:

  • Ibanez / Maxon TS808, TS9
  • Klon Centaur
  • Horizon Precision Drive
  • Boss OD-1, SD-1
  • Analogman King Of Tone
  • Timmy Overdrive
  • Marshall Bluesbreaker MK1

The Kemper Drive recreates all of these sought-after overdrive tones, and at the same time, goes far beyond those as well: combining all the classic tonal characteristics into just one "Pedal". This allows for the unique possibility to seamlessly morph between all the overdrive classics and create the perfect tone for any particular guitar, amp, and cabinet combination — from creamy, smooth saturation to the tightening of high-gain sounds. For a start, 21 presets are available to get going easily.

Honestly the Kemper truly is a master piece of engineering! If you're looking to create your own guitar or bass tones, and have decent audio engineering knowledge and are a studio artist, or want to gig live, then this is for you! As a predominantly djent/death metal musician, tight guitar tones are essential and the Kemper is often recommended. When I took the plunge I was not disappointed at all!! I will say that you do need to spend a good few days figuring out how to dial in your tones, and they aren't literally 'plug and play' so do be patient, but even on my 9th string (B0 note) I can get perfect clarity on distorted tones. The ambient and lead guitar tones you can make are also incredible, anything from really intricate reverb sounds to very digital almost EDM sounding ones. The Kemper really does allow you to make some funky content which you can then add in as synth like instruments to layer your tracks more. As a side note I should mention that MOST of the stuff in the rig exchange isn't studio quality. There ARE a few gems hidden in the 16 500 tones on there currently, but you're best off buying professional packs from genuine artists that fit your genre and then dialling in your specific guitar (based on what pickups you have etc etc you'll have to mess around, no 2 different guitars will sound even remotely similar when using the same tone). Just buy one! Tis truly a magical piece of kit <3

Was a bit skeptical at first but after seeign a variety of artists using it across a range of genres and actually being able to hear the differences in each aspect of the profiles its clear that its well worth the money.

Fantastic piece of gear, doubt I'll ever buy another amp again. Has everything you could possibly need and is much easier to operate than I expected.

It was either this or a Marshall JCM 800... my heart wanted the Marshall but my head told me to go for the Kemper. I'll get the Marshall but this thing can do all amps and they all sound totally authentic...

What a brilliant device. Held off purchase for ages as had some nice tube amps but they were taking up too much space. Traded a vox and fender reissue reverb, for the kemper..no regrets!

Mr Pedro Carreiro22nd Dec 2017

Clean sounds are amazing, the heavy stuff is also very good. Go for the top kemper rig profiles, MBrit, TAF, etc. The Kemper profiler is definitely a great piece of gear, highly recommended.

Mr John Marshall23rd Jan 2017

Amazing piece of kit. The sounds that this thing can create (or recreate) are stunning. When you are familiar with an amps sound and you hear the profiled version through the Kemper, the character and tone are unmistakable. I have a bunch of other modellers, such as BIAS Amp (desktop and mobile), Guitar Rig 5, S-Gear etc. but they all have that very harsh, digital sounding fizz to them. The Kemper blows all the others away in comparison. To my ears, that fizzy harshness isn't there. It's certainly not an inexpensive device though, but for myself, as a life long guitar player, I felt that it was worth the investment. I have no regrets in my purchase. I feel like I have only just scratched the surface of what it can do, so far. Every time that I switch profiles, or play around with the effects I am continually blown away. An extremely versatile and great piece of gear, for sure.

ALR23rd Sep 2016

Even at £1400 I didn't expect this to be flawless or jaw dropping. Been bitten to many times. But this thing is the real deal. Literally the last amp I will ever buy. Once recorded it blows my mind at how it sounds in a mix. Even when playing it feels like a real amp in another room. Expensive but, if you hate spending time tweaking sounds because your never totally happy, this is amazing.
