Product Description
The Yamaha FGX820CNT is a performance-ready electro-acoustic that delivers the feel and tone of a premium folk guitar at a highly accessible price. Based on the hugely popular FG820, this cutaway version adds a powerful pickup and preamp system so you can move seamlessly from the sofa to the stage, all while enjoying a warm, balanced sound and classic Yamaha reliability.
With a solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides and Yamaha’s scalloped bracing, the FGX820CNT offers impressive projection and clarity, whether you are strumming big chords or picking delicate melodies. The comfortable Traditional Western cutaway body and satin-finished Nato neck make it an inviting instrument for beginners and intermediate players alike, while the System66 electronics ensure your tone translates beautifully when plugged in.
Solid Spruce Top with Mahogany Back and Sides
At the heart of the FGX820CNT is a solid spruce top that provides bright, articulate highs and excellent dynamic range. Paired with mahogany back and sides, you get a fuller low end and a warm, woody midrange that works brilliantly for singer-songwriters, folk, pop and worship styles. Yamaha’s scalloped bracing helps the top resonate more freely, enhancing volume and sustain so your playing carries clearly in the room.
Comfortable Cutaway Folk Body
Derived from the FG820, this model adopts the Traditional Western cutaway body shape, giving you the familiar feel of a dreadnought-style folk guitar with improved upper-fret access. The cutaway lets you comfortably reach higher notes for solos, melodic fills and more adventurous chord voicings, making it a versatile choice as your playing develops.
Playable Nato Neck with Rosewood or Walnut Fingerboard
The matte-finished Nato neck is designed to sit naturally in the hand, reducing friction for smoother position shifts. A rosewood or walnut fingerboard and matching bridge add a touch of warmth to the tone and a reassuringly solid feel under the fingers. With 20 frets and simple dot inlays, the FGX820CNT offers a clean, unfussy playing surface that suits both chord work and single-note lines.
System66 Electronics with Onboard Tuner
For live use, Yamaha’s proprietary under-saddle piezo pickup and System66 analogue preamp give you a clear, dependable amplified sound. The top-mounted controls are intuitive, with a 3-band EQ and volume control so you can shape your tone quickly on stage or in rehearsal. A built-in tuner means you can check your tuning at any time without extra gear, helping you stay in tune and in control throughout your set.
