Product Description

The Yamaha FG7 MX is a premium, all-solid, Japanese-crafted dreadnought designed for players who want a powerful, characterful acoustic voice that translates beautifully on stage. With a solid Sitka spruce top, solid African mahogany back and sides and Yamaha’s advanced Atmosfeel electronics, it delivers rich, dynamic tone whether you are unplugged in the studio or plugged in under the lights.

Part of Yamaha’s FG/FS7 Series, the FG7 MX blends traditional craftsmanship with modern detail and precision. From the one-piece mahogany neck and ebony fingerboard to the bone nut and saddle and Gotoh SXN510 tuners, every component has been chosen to maximise resonance, stability and playing comfort. Subtle Japanese-inspired appointments complete a guitar that feels as special as it sounds.

Powerful All-Solid Dreadnought Tone

The full-size FG dreadnought body, combined with an all-solid wood construction, gives the FG7 MX a bold, room-filling acoustic voice. The solid Sitka spruce top with scalloped X-bracing offers excellent projection, sensitivity and headroom, responding effortlessly to everything from delicate fingerpicking to heavy strumming. Solid African mahogany back and sides add warmth, strong mids and smooth overtones, giving chords real authority and single notes a rich, vocal quality.

Atmosfeel Electronics for Natural Amplified Sound

Yamaha’s Atmosfeel system is designed to reproduce the guitar’s true acoustic character when amplified, without the harshness often associated with piezo pickups. A dedicated piezo sensor captures low frequencies, an internal microphone focuses on low and midrange detail, and a proprietary contact sensor handles the highs. The simple control layout with Master Volume, Mic Blend and Bass EQ lets you quickly dial in a balanced, natural sound that works in any venue.

Premium Japanese Craftsmanship and Playability

Crafted in Japan, the FG7 MX features a one-piece African mahogany neck for stability and a reassuringly solid feel. The 650 mm scale length and 44 mm nut width provide a familiar, comfortable playing platform for both strummers and fingerstyle players. An ebony fingerboard and bridge offer a smooth, durable surface with excellent clarity and note separation, while the semi-gloss neck finish helps your hand glide easily up and down the neck.

Refined Aesthetics and Reliable Hardware

Understated yet distinctive, the FG7 MX pairs a Natural gloss body finish with traditional Japanese-inspired detailing. Black and cream body binding frames the solid woods, while a wooden rope-pattern soundhole inlay and tortoise-pattern pickguard add classic character. Ebony bridge pins, bone nut and saddle and Gotoh SXN510 Cosmo Black tuners work together to enhance tuning stability, sustain and overall resonance. A premium hardshell case, soundhole cover, hex wrench and Certificate of Authenticity are included.

Features
  • All-Solid Sitka Spruce and African Mahogany Construction - A solid Sitka spruce top paired with solid African mahogany back and sides delivers a powerful, nuanced acoustic voice. You get bright, responsive attack from the spruce, balanced by warm lows and strong mids from the mahogany, giving you a versatile tone that works for strumming, flatpicking and fingerstyle.
  • Yamaha Atmosfeel Pickup System - The Atmosfeel system combines a piezo sensor for lows, an internal microphone for low and midrange detail and a contact sensor for the highs. This multi-source approach captures the full spectrum of the guitar’s acoustic sound, giving you a natural, three-dimensional tone when plugged in, with intuitive controls to shape your sound on stage.
  • Japanese-Built Neck with Ebony Fingerboard and Bridge - The one-piece African mahogany neck offers strength and stability, while the ebony fingerboard and bridge provide a smooth, premium playing surface and clear note definition. Together with the 650 mm scale and 44 mm nut width, this results in a comfortable feel and reliable intonation across the entire neck.
  • Premium Hardware and Traditional Detailing - Gotoh SXN510 Cosmo Black tuners ensure precise, dependable tuning, while bone nut and saddle and ebony bridge pins maximise resonance and sustain. Subtle touches like the wooden rope-pattern soundhole inlay, black and cream binding and tortoise-pattern pickguard give the FG7 MX a refined, timeless look that reflects its high-end build.
