Product Description
The Yamaha C40MII is a full-size classical guitar with a natural matte finish, offering the same trusted playability as the hugely popular C40II but with a more open, organic feel. Ideal as a first classical, school or lesson instrument, its slim neck, comfortable body and beginner-friendly nylon strings make it easy to start playing and keep progressing.
By swapping the traditional gloss for an ultra-thin satin finish, the C40MII feels less sticky under the hands and allows the spruce top to resonate freely. The result is a responsive, balanced tone and a more understated look that suits players who prefer a simple, classic aesthetic without distraction.
Beginner Friendly, Full Size Classical
The C40MII uses Yamaha’s traditional CG body shape with a full 650 mm scale length and 52 mm nut width, so new players can learn correct classical technique from day one. Nylon strings are easier on the fingertips than steel, while the flat fingerboard and generous string spacing give plenty of room for accurate fretting and clean chord shapes.
Natural Matte Finish for a More Open Feel
The standout feature of the C40MII is its natural matte finish. This ultra-thin satin layer helps the spruce top and body resonate more freely, giving a lively, open response. It also provides a smoother, less sticky feel under the hands, which is especially reassuring for beginners who are still getting used to moving around the neck.
Consistent Quality for Lessons and Schools
Yamaha’s reputation for consistency makes the C40MII a reliable choice for teachers, schools and students. The locally sourced tonewoods, stable neck construction and precise factory setup help ensure that each instrument plays comfortably and stays in tune, lesson after lesson, so learners can focus on music rather than fighting the guitar.
Classic Look, Understated Style
With its natural matte finish, black body binding and simple soundhole decal, the C40MII has a clean, traditional appearance that does not draw attention away from the player. There is no pickguard to interrupt the look of the spruce top, giving the guitar a refined, understated character that suits both home practice and classroom use.
Features
- Natural Matte Finish - The ultra-thin satin finish gives the guitar a more open, resonant sound and a smooth, non-sticky feel. This makes long practice sessions more comfortable and helps beginners feel more at ease as they move up and down the neck.
- Beginner Friendly Nylon Strings - Nylon strings offer a softer feel under the fingers compared to steel, reducing discomfort for new players. Combined with the flat fingerboard and generous string spacing, this makes it easier to form chords cleanly and develop proper technique.
- Traditional Full Size Classical Body - The Yamaha CG body shape with full 650 mm scale length and 52 mm nut width provides the correct proportions for classical playing. This helps students transition smoothly to higher level instruments later on, without having to relearn their hand positions.
- Reliable Yamaha Construction - A spruce top, locally sourced tonewood back, sides and neck, and quality chrome machine heads work together for stable tuning and consistent performance. This reliability makes the C40MII a strong choice for schools, teachers and anyone buying their first classical guitar.
