Volt 4 Max’s two Tone Shaping Preamps let you choose between three distinct harmonic flavours: Warmth, Focus and Shine. These modes emulate tube, solid-state and British Class-A style mic preamps, so you can dial in rich, record-ready colour at the source instead of fixing lifeless tracks later with plug-ins. Vocals, guitars, synths and spoken word all benefit from added depth, presence and polish before they even hit your DAW.

Max Compression for Effortless, Radio-Ready Dynamics

Max processing gives you onboard dynamics based on UA’s legendary LA-2A and 1176 compressors. Six push-button presets are tuned for common sources like rap vocals, jangly acoustic guitar and bass, making it easy to add punch, control and consistency while you record. Combined with the three preamp modes, you get over 18 noise-free tone and compression combinations that keep performances sitting perfectly in the mix.

Smart Display, Auto-Gain and Clip Protection

The full-colour Smart Display puts all your key information in one place, showing levels, routing and gain reduction clearly so you can work quickly and confidently. Auto-Gain sets input levels in seconds, while Clip Protection catches unexpected peaks before they ruin a take. Together, these tools let you focus on performance and creativity instead of constantly watching meters.

Expandable I/O and Built-In Talkback for Modern Studios

With 12-in / 6-out simultaneous I/O, Volt 4 Max is ready to grow with your setup. Dual mic / line / Hi-Z inputs handle vocals and instruments, additional line I/O connects outboard gear, and ADAT or S/PDIF optical input lets you add up to eight more channels when you need them. Speaker switching between main and alt monitors, two headphone outs and a built-in talkback mic make it a powerful hub for collaborative sessions, podcasts and livestreams.
