Product Description

The UDO DMNO ON is an 8-voice, 2-part multitimbral desktop synthesiser combining high-resolution FPGA digital oscillators with a fully analogue signal path and powerful digital effects. Its two independent hybrid synth engines can be layered, split, rotated, randomised or routed together using eight creative Play Modes, providing an unusually flexible approach to sound design and performance. Each engine features two super waveform oscillators, extensive modulation, and a Dynamic Multi Core Stereo VCF with parallel, series and stereo configurations. Binaural mode creates up to four expansive super voices by giving each channel an independent synthesiser voice with separate detuning and modulation. The compact desktop design also provides comprehensive connectivity, including MIDI, USB audio, stereo external input, CV and gate or clock outputs. A high-contrast VFD display provides direct access to synthesis, effects and performance settings without deep menus. The expandable ON System also allows optional control modules to be added, giving you the flexibility to build a more hands-on DMNO setup around your preferred workflow.

Features
  • Two Independent Hybrid Synth Engines - Create layered or contrasting sounds using two complete synthesiser engines, each with dual FPGA oscillators, analogue filtering and extensive modulation.
  • Eight Creative Play Modes - Instantly change how DMNO 1 and DMNO 2 interact with modes including Dual, Split, Rotate, Chaos and Cascade.
  • Dynamic Multi Core Stereo VCF - Shape each voice through versatile analogue filters with parallel, series or stereo configurations and a wide selection of filter types.

Expandable Desktop Synthesis:

DMNO ON brings the full DMNO synthesis architecture into a compact desktop format while leaving room to expand its physical control surface. The base unit provides access to an 8-voice, 2-part multitimbral hybrid synthesiser, with two independent sound engines and a comprehensive set of synthesis features. Optional ONM expansion modules connect directly using a screw-locking D-Sub cable and require no additional power supply. An ONM 1 Synth Control can recreate the dual control layout of the keyboard DMNO, while the ONM 2 Effects Control adds dedicated hands-on access to the onboard effects. With further ONM modules planned, you can develop a setup that suits your playing style and workflow without compromising the core synthesis engine.

Creative Play Modes and Binaural Synthesis:

The DMNO ON is designed to make complex signal routing accessible through eight Play Modes, allowing its two synthesiser engines to interact in very different ways. Traditional Dual and Split modes sit alongside One Two, Rotate, Random, Chaos and Cascade configurations. Cascade is particularly distinctive, routing the output of DMNO 1 into the oscillator mixer of DMNO 2 as a complex oscillator source. Binaural mode takes the stereo architecture further, assigning a complete synthesiser voice to each channel so you can independently detune and modulate the left and right sides. This creates expansive stereo textures while providing up to four super voices from the instrument's eight-voice polyphony.

Flexible Connectivity and Sound Shaping:

DMNO ON combines its extensive synthesis architecture with a versatile selection of studio and performance connections. The built in 2 in, 2 out 24 bit USB audio interface provides direct digital audio connectivity with a computer or DAW, alongside DIN MIDI in, out and thru and class compliant USB MIDI. A stereo external audio input includes a variable gain preamplifier, gate level detector and envelope follower, allowing external signals to become part of the modulation architecture. Two assignable CV and gate or clock outputs provide integration with modular and other hardware systems. The internal 32 bit DSP effects chain adds delay, reverb, distortion, chorus and EQ, while the auxiliary output can be assigned to DMNO audio, USB audio or the effects send bus.
