Product Description

With its compact Grand Concert body and unique 12-fret design, the Next Generation 712ce 12-Fret provides an exceptionally comfortable playing experience and produces a remarkably full voice with a surprisingly powerful bass response. Back and sides of solid Indian rosewood generate deep lows, bell-like trebles and rich harmonic overtones. A Western Red cedar top adds warmth, sweetness and responsiveness to a soft touch. Inside, scalloped V-Class bracing unlocks greater low-end warmth and open-string richness, while enhancing pitch accuracy and projection. A sleek Action Control Neck with a slotted peghead and 24-7/8-inch scale length allows for easy, on-the-fly string height adjustments and provides a slinky handfeel that makes fretting easier. Visual accents include Reflection inlays, white body binding, a green abalone rosette, faux-tortoise pickguard and a rich, full-body gloss finish. Outfitted with Claria system electronics for easy, reliable amplified tone, this model ships in a deluxe hardshell case.

12th Fret Neck Joint

Joining a guitar's neck to the body at the 12th fret has more of an impact on an acoustic guitar's tone than you may think. When a guitar features a 12th fret neck-to-body joint, the bridge has to be positioned much lower on the body than we would find on a ‘standard’ acoustic guitar. This new bridge position is actually considered by many as the ‘sweet spot’ for bridge placement, placing it right around the centre of the lower bout. This optimises vibration and tonal transfer and results in a richer and fuller sound with increased sustain, volume and dynamics. Up until the late 1920s/early ‘30s, guitars typically joined the body at the 12th fret. Manufacturers moved away from this design due to a rising desire among guitarists for easier access to the higher notes. The 12th-fret joint can also result in a more slinky feel overall, as well as a more comfortable playing experience due to the shorter neck.

Features
  • Long-Tenon Action Control Neck -The long-tenon neck joint improves the neck-to-body connection, adding warmth and depth to the guitar’s voice. At the same time, the Action Control feature makes adjusting string height quicker and more precise than ever — no need to remove strings or the neck. Players can dial in their preferred setup in seconds and adapt on the fly to changing styles or shifting climate conditions. It’s the ultimate fusion of tone, stability and setup convenience.
  • Scalloped V-Class Bracing - The latest evolution of Taylor’s V-Class bracing introduces a scalloped profile that unlocks a warmer low end and richer open-string resonance, while preserving the balance, pitch accuracy and projection that define V-Class. The guitars are now seasoned with a touch of low-end depth that adds more fullness to the voice.
  • Claria System Acoustic Electronics - Developed with extensive input from touring artists and live sound engineers, Taylor’s new Claria System reimagines the under-saddle piezo pickup to deliver consistent plug-and-play acoustic tone in any setting. A proprietary preamp tames the harshness of traditional piezos and incorporates soundhole-mounted controls: Volume, Tone and a versatile Mid-Contour knob. The result is a consistent, stage-ready tone that’s easy to shape for any setting — from solo café gigs to large-venue performances.
