Product Description
The Taylor Next-Gen 312ce Grand Concert delivers a beautifully balanced, highly versatile acoustic voice in a compact, comfortable body. Sitting tonally between the warmer, drier 322ce and the richer, overtone-heavy rosewood models, it offers clear, focused sound with impressive punch and projection for its size, making it an ideal all-rounder for fingerstyle, strumming, recording and live performance.
With a Sitka spruce top and sapele back and sides, the 312ce-NG combines strong articulation with a focused midrange and controlled overtones. It is clearer and more direct than its mahogany-topped sibling, yet less harmonically dense than rosewood models, giving you a sound that sits perfectly in a mix without ever feeling thin or overly bright. Whether you are playing intricate solo arrangements or supporting a vocal, it responds with a confident, musical voice that is easy to shape and control.
Taylor’s V-Class bracing and compact Grand Concert body work together to deliver impressive volume, sustain and tuning stability, while keeping the fundamental note clear and present. The result is a guitar that feels equally at home under a light fingerstyle touch or a more assertive strum, with enough dynamic range to handle both without compressing or getting muddy. The shorter 24 7/8 inch scale length also softens the string tension slightly, making bends, vibrato and extended playing sessions more comfortable.
Plugged in, the Taylor Claria system captures the guitar’s natural acoustic character with clarity and consistency. The under saddle pickup and preamp provide a clean, balanced signal that translates well on stage and in the studio, while discreet soundhole mounted controls keep the top looking clean and traditional. Finished in a tasteful medium brown stain gloss with a shaded edgeburst top, and complemented by firestripe pickguard and Italian acrylic Weathervane inlays, the 312ce-NG looks every bit as refined as it sounds.
Balanced, Versatile Grand Concert Voice
The 312ce-NG occupies a sweet spot in Taylor’s Next-Gen Grand Concert line, offering a voice that is clearer and more direct than the 322ce, yet less overtone heavy than rosewood models like the 412ce and 812ce. This balance makes it a superb choice if you need one guitar to cover fingerstyle, flatpicking, light strumming and accompaniment without pushing you towards any extreme tonal character.
Spruce and Sapele for Clarity and Punch
The Sitka spruce top and sapele back and sides pairing delivers strong articulation, focused projection and an impressive sense of punch, especially for a compact body. Notes speak quickly and cleanly, chords remain defined and controlled, and the overall response feels tight and responsive, making it ideal for players who value clarity and precision in their sound.
Comfortable Playability and Focused Projection
The compact Grand Concert body and shorter 24 7/8 inch scale length offer a very comfortable playing experience, particularly for fingerstyle players and those who prefer a more intimate feel. Despite its smaller footprint, the 312ce-NG offers impressive volume and sustain, with a focused voice and strong fundamental clarity that projects well both acoustically and through a PA.
Stage Ready with Taylor Claria Electronics
Equipped with the Taylor Claria under saddle pickup and preamp system, the 312ce-NG is ready for live performance and recording straight out of the box. The system delivers a natural, balanced amplified tone that reflects the guitar’s acoustic character, while the soundhole mounted tone shaping controls allow quick, intuitive adjustments without cluttering the top with extra hardware.
Features
- Balanced Next-Gen Grand Concert Tonality - Voiced to sit between the warmer 322ce and the richer rosewood models, the 312ce-NG offers a clear, direct sound with controlled overtones. This makes it a highly adaptable choice for players who move between styles and need a guitar that always sounds composed and musical.
- Sitka Spruce Top with Sapele Back and Sides - The classic spruce and sapele combination provides strong articulation, focused mids and a tight low end. You get enough warmth and body for solo playing, along with the clarity and punch needed to cut through a band or recording mix without becoming boomy or indistinct.
- V-Class Bracing and Compact Grand Concert Body - Taylor’s scalloped V-Class bracing enhances volume, sustain and intonation while keeping the guitar’s voice focused and controlled. Paired with the compact Grand Concert body, it delivers impressive projection and dynamic range in a comfortable, easy handling format that suits long sessions and detailed playing.
- Taylor Claria Pickup with Discreet Controls - The Claria under saddle pickup and preamp system captures the guitar’s natural acoustic tone with clarity and consistency. Soundhole mounted controls let you shape your sound quickly on stage without compromising the guitar’s clean aesthetic, making it a reliable partner for gigs and studio work alike.
