Sonor SQ2 Birch 13x6.5 Snare Drum in Brilliant Black

The Sonor SQ2 Birch 13x6.5 Snare Drum in Brilliant Black is a premium, custom-level instrument designed for drummers who demand precision, projection and a refined, modern voice. Built from hand-selected Scandinavian Birch and finished in a sleek Brilliant Black lacquer, it delivers a focused, articulate crack with impressive low and high frequency clarity, making it equally at home on stage and in the studio.

Part of Sonor’s flagship SQ2 Drum System, this snare benefits from the brand’s meticulous craftsmanship and dedication to detail. Every shell is created from carefully sourced, environmentally responsible wood and engineered to provide a powerful yet controlled response. The 13x6.5 configuration offers a tight, punchy feel with added body and depth, ideal for cutting through dense mixes while still offering plenty of dynamic nuance.

Scandinavian Birch Shell

At the heart of this SQ2 snare is a Scandinavian Birch shell, chosen for its aggressive, distinctive tone and tremendous projection. Birch provides clear lows and highs with a smooth, balanced midrange, giving you a crisp, defined attack that never becomes harsh. This makes it an excellent choice for styles where articulation and presence are essential, from pop and rock to fusion and modern worship settings.

13x6.5 Versatile Dimensions

The 13x6.5 size strikes a sweet spot between tight responsiveness and full-bodied tone. The slightly smaller diameter gives you a quicker, more focused crack that sits perfectly in a mix, while the extra depth adds warmth, punch and tuning flexibility. Whether you prefer a high, cutting pop or a fat, lower-pitched backbeat, this snare responds beautifully to different tunings and head choices.

Brilliant Black Lacquer Finish

The Brilliant Black finish gives this SQ2 snare a sophisticated, modern look that works with almost any kit configuration. The high-quality lacquer highlights Sonor’s attention to detail and provides a durable outer layer that is built to withstand regular gigging and transport. It is a visually striking drum that looks as premium as it sounds.

Flagship SQ2 Craftsmanship

As part of the SQ2 Drum System, this snare benefits from Sonor’s top-tier build quality and obsessive approach to detail.
