Sonor SQ2 14x6.5 Birch Snare Drum in African Marble Semi Gloss

The Sonor SQ2 14x6.5 Birch Snare Drum in African Marble Semi Gloss is a premium, custom-level snare built for drummers who demand precision, projection and a truly individual aesthetic. Crafted from handpicked Scandinavian Birch and finished in a stunning African Marble veneer, it delivers a focused, articulate crack with powerful low-end punch and exceptional clarity across the tuning range.

Part of Sonor’s flagship SQ2 Drum System, this snare showcases the brand’s meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail. Every shell is created with the same care as a full custom order, giving you a highly responsive, versatile instrument that feels at home in the studio, on stage, and in any musical setting where definition and musicality are essential.

Scandinavian Birch Power and Clarity

At the heart of this SQ2 snare is a Scandinavian Birch shell, chosen for its aggressive, distinctive tone and tremendous projection. Birch naturally emphasises low and high frequencies while keeping the mids smooth and controlled, so every stroke cuts through the mix without sounding harsh. From tight, cracking rimshots to fat, warm backbeats, the shell responds quickly and consistently, making it ideal for modern pop, rock, fusion and live work where you need presence and punch.

Versatile 14x6.5 Dimensions

The 14x6.5 configuration strikes a perfect balance between body and articulation. The extra depth compared to a 14x5 allows for a fuller, more powerful fundamental note and greater low-end weight, while still retaining the speed and sensitivity needed for ghost notes and intricate patterns. This makes the drum highly adaptable, capable of handling tight, dry tunings for studio precision or open, resonant setups for live dynamics.

African Marble Semi Gloss Finish

The African Marble Semi Gloss finish gives this snare a refined, boutique look that stands out without being flashy. The natural wood grain and marbled figuring are showcased under a smooth, semi-gloss sheen that looks sophisticated under stage lights and in the studio. It is a visual statement that reflects the premium nature of the SQ2 series and complements a wide range of kit finishes.
