Product Description

The RME M-1610 Pro is a high-end 16-in / 10-out networked converter and audio interface that brings M-32 Pro-class performance into a more compact, cost-effective package. Combining 16 premium analogue inputs, 8 balanced line outputs, independent headphones, AVB networking, MADI and ADAT connectivity with dual internal power supplies, it is built for mission-critical studio, live and broadcast environments where sound quality, flexibility and reliability are non-negotiable.

With ultra-low converter latency, SteadyClock FS jitter suppression and fully DC-coupled outputs, the M-1610 Pro delivers RME’s trademark transparent conversion across every channel and format. A powerful internal routing matrix, redundant AVB and MADI paths, and comprehensive remote control options make it equally at home as a central studio hub, a stagebox on an AVB network or a format converter in a broadcast rack.

High-performance analogue I/O in a compact frame

Integrating 16 analogue line inputs with switchable sensitivity up to +24 dBu per channel, plus 8 balanced line outputs and an additional headphone output, the M-1610 Pro provides serious I/O density in a 1U chassis. Each input and output channel offers three selectable reference levels, each with the full dynamic range of the converters, so you can interface cleanly with anything from outboard preamps and consoles to synths and processors without sacrificing headroom or noise performance.

AVB, MADI and ADAT for modern hybrid workflows

The M-1610 Pro is designed to drop into complex digital systems with ease. Dual RJ45 AVB ports support eight streams (up to 128 channels) with deterministic, time-aligned networking and configurable latency down to 0.3 ms. Coaxial and optional optical MADI (with auto input redundancy) provide up to 64 channels per port, while four ADAT outputs offer straightforward integration with existing studio gear. The internal 272 x 298 channel routing matrix lets you freely route between all analogue I/O, AVB streams, MADI and ADAT, turning the unit into a powerful hub and format converter.

Fast, transparent conversion with SteadyClock FS

RME’s conversion design in the M-1610 Pro focuses on absolute accuracy and transparency, with carefully optimised AD and DA filters for all sample rates. SteadyClock FS provides reference-class clocking with extremely low jitter and high jitter immunity, ensuring that the stereo image, depth and transient detail of your audio remain intact whether you are tracking, mixing or distributing digital audio across multiple devices. The result is a neutral, revealing sound that lets you hear exactly what is in your mix.

Front-panel control and comprehensive remote operation

Despite its deep routing and networking capabilities, the M-1610 Pro is straightforward to operate. A 2 inch colour display and encoder provide direct access to all key functions from the front panel, including source selection, levels and headphone routing. For more complex setups, the built-in web interface allows full remote control over any network connection, including Wi-Fi, with support for HTTP, JSON, IEEE 1722.1, ATDECC and MIDI over MADI. Creating gain groups, switching phantom power on connected devices, or sending any signal to the headphone output for troubleshooting becomes fast and intuitive.

Seamless design for critical applications

Engineered for environments where downtime is not an option, the M-1610 Pro features dual fully monitored internal power supplies and AVB and MADI paths. MADI Auto-Input and intelligent clock management (SyncCheck and Intelligent Clock Control) ensure seamless switchover if a clock or input source fails, while DC-coupled outputs and robust analogue design maintain signal integrity at all times. Whether installed in a studio rack or deployed on tour, it is built to deliver consistent, stable performance.

Features
  • 16 premium analogue inputs with switchable sensitivity - Each of the 16 line inputs offers 24-bit conversion and three selectable reference levels (+13 / +19 / +24 dBu at 0 dBFS), allowing precise matching to a wide range of professional gear. This maximises headroom and minimises noise, so your outboard, instruments and mic preamps all hit the converters at their optimum level.
  • AVB, MADI and ADAT connectivity in one unit - Dual AVB ports, coaxial and optional optical MADI, plus four ADAT outputs give you a huge amount of routing flexibility. You can expand existing MADI rigs with analogue and AVB I/O, bridge AVB and MADI networks, or feed multiple ADAT-equipped devices, all from a single 1U interface.
  • SteadyClock FS and ultra-low latency conversion - RME’s SteadyClock FS technology delivers exceptionally low jitter and high jitter immunity, preserving stereo imaging and detail across all clocking scenarios. Combined with extremely low converter latency and deterministic AVB networking, it ensures tight, time-aligned audio even across large multi-device systems.
  • Pro-level power and network for maximum reliability - Two internal power supplies, redundant AVB ports and MADI input redundancy (with optional SFP) mean the M-1610 Pro is ready for mission-critical work. Automatic input switching and intelligent clock management help keep audio flowing smoothly even if a cable, clock or power source fails.
