Remo, Emperor SMT Coated Kick Drum Drumhead, 24"

The Remo Emperor SMT Coated 24 inch kick drum head is a pre-muffled bass drum solution that delivers tight, punchy attack with deep, controlled low end. Combining a dual-ply coated construction with Remo’s Sub Muffl Technology, it gives you a focused, studio-ready kick sound straight out of the box, with less need for extra damping inside the drum.

Designed for modern drum set applications, the Emperor SMT Coated balances controlled high and mid frequencies with powerful subsonic lows. The result is a broad, musical tuning range that works just as well for articulate jazz and fusion as it does for contemporary pop, rock and live worship settings. If you want a kick sound that sits perfectly in the mix with minimal fuss, this head is built to do exactly that.

The coated surface adds warmth and definition, enhancing the beater attack without becoming clicky or harsh. Underneath, the integrated Sub Muffl ring subtly tames unwanted overtones and sustain, so your bass drum feels tight and responsive while still moving plenty of air. Whether you are recording, rehearsing or gigging, the Emperor SMT Coated helps you achieve a consistent, professional kick tone night after night.

Pre-Muffled Design with Sub Muffl Technology

The Emperor SMT Coated features a built-in Sub Muffl system that controls excess ring and boom from within the head itself. This means you can enjoy a focused, punchy kick sound without relying on pillows, blankets or extra damping accessories inside the drum, keeping your setup simple and consistent.

Dual-Ply Durability and Control

Constructed from two plies of 7 mil and 5 mil film, this head offers the ideal balance of durability and tonal control. The dual-ply design withstands heavy playing while naturally shortening sustain and tightening the overall response, giving you a solid, reliable feel under the beater.

Coated Finish for Warm Attack

The coated surface softens the top end and adds a touch of warmth to your kick sound, enhancing definition without excessive brightness. This helps your bass drum cut through the mix with a clear, musical attack that works across a wide range of genres and playing styles.

Broad, Musical Tuning Range

Thanks to its controlled frequency response and integrated muffling, the Emperor SMT Coated offers a broad spectrum of usable tunings. From higher, more open jazz tunings to lower, punchy contemporary setups, it remains articulate and balanced, making it a versatile choice for drummers who cover multiple styles.
