Product Description
The Remo Emperor SMT Coated 18 inch kick drumhead is a pre-muffled bass drum head designed to deliver tight, punchy low end with controlled highs and mids. Featuring Remo’s Sub Muffl Technology and a durable coated finish, it gives you focused, modern kick tones straight out of the box without the need for extra pillows, rings or tape.
With its dual-ply construction and integrated damping, the Emperor SMT Coated is ideal for players who want a powerful, defined bass drum sound that still retains musicality and a broad tuning range. From jazz-influenced setups to contemporary rock and pop, it offers a versatile, studio-ready kick sound that works just as well live as it does under microphones.
Pre-Muffled, Ready to Play
The Emperor SMT Coated is built around a pre-muffled design that uses Remo’s Sub Muffl Technology to control unwanted overtones and decay. This means you can achieve a focused, punchy kick sound without stuffing your drum with extra damping material, helping your bass drum feel and respond more naturally while still sitting perfectly in the mix.
Controlled Top End, Powerful Low Frequencies
Engineered to tame high and mid frequencies while enhancing low-end punch, this head gives you a tight, articulate attack with deep, weighty sub frequencies. The result is a kick sound that cuts through clearly without becoming boomy or boxy, ideal for modern productions where clarity and low-end impact are equally important.
Durable Dual-Ply Coated Construction
Using two plies of 7 mil and 5 mil film with a coated surface, the Emperor SMT Coated balances durability with responsiveness. The dual-ply design adds strength for heavier hitters and regular gigging, while the coating adds warmth, extra attack and a slightly drier character that works brilliantly with the integrated muffling.
Wide Tuning Range for Jazz and Contemporary Styles
Despite its focused, pre-muffled design, the Emperor SMT Coated offers a broad tonal spectrum across different tunings. Whether you prefer a higher, more open jazz-style kick or a low, punchy contemporary sound, this head responds musically and consistently, making it a flexible choice for drummers who cover multiple genres.
Features
- Pre-Muffled with Sub Muffl Technology - Built-in Sub Muffl Technology controls overtones and shortens sustain for a tight, focused kick sound, reducing the need for extra damping inside the drum and helping you achieve a clean, professional tone quickly.
- Controlled Highs and Mids with Deep Low End - The acoustic profile emphasises powerful low frequencies while keeping high and mid frequencies in check, giving you a punchy, defined attack that still delivers subsonic weight for modern mixes.
- Durable 2-Ply Coated Construction - Two plies of 7 mil and 5 mil film with a coated finish provide a strong, roadworthy head that stands up to regular playing, while the coating adds warmth, extra attack and a slightly drier, more controlled character.
- Versatile Tuning for Jazz and Contemporary Music - Designed with a broad tuning range, this head works equally well at higher, more open tunings and lower, punchier settings, making it suitable for jazz, fusion, pop, rock and other contemporary styles.
