Remo, Ambassador SMT Coated Kick Ebony Drumhead, 22"

The Remo Ambassador SMT Coated 22 inch Ebony bass drumhead is a pre-muffled, single-ply head designed to give you tight, controlled punch with powerful low-end weight. Combining Remo’s Sub Muffl Technology with a coated playing surface and striking ebony finish, it delivers focused attack, reduced overtones and a broad, musical tuning range that suits everything from jazz to modern pop and rock.

With its 10-mil single-ply construction, this head retains the feel and responsiveness of a traditional Ambassador while taming high and mid frequencies for a cleaner, more defined kick sound. The integrated muffling saves you from stuffing your drum with pillows or foam, giving you a consistent, studio-ready tone straight out of the box.

Whether you are chasing articulate, open jazz tunings or a deeper, contemporary thump, the Ambassador SMT Coated Ebony makes it easy to dial in a usable sound quickly. The added attack and subsonic low frequencies help your bass drum sit perfectly in the mix, on stage or in the studio, without getting lost or sounding boomy.

Finished in ebony with a coated surface, it offers a refined look and feel that complements a wide range of kits while still providing the familiar response drummers expect from Remo’s flagship Ambassador series.

Pre-Muffled Sub Muffl Technology

The Ambassador SMT Coated Ebony features Remo’s Sub Muffl Technology, a built-in muffling system that controls unwanted high and mid overtones. This gives you a tighter, more focused bass drum sound without the need for extra damping materials inside the shell, helping you achieve a consistent, professional tone with minimal fuss.

10-mil Single Ply Coated Film

Constructed from a single 10-mil ply of coated film, this head delivers a responsive feel with plenty of articulation under the beater. The coating adds warmth and a touch of texture to the attack, making dynamic playing feel natural while still providing enough durability for regular use.

Controlled Highs with Powerful Low-End

By taming the high and mid frequencies, the Ambassador SMT Coated Ebony lets the low-end speak clearly and powerfully. The result is a punchy, defined kick sound that carries through the mix, with added subsonic lows that you can feel as much as you hear.

Broad, Musical Tuning Range

Designed with a wide tonal spectrum in mind, this head responds well across a broad range of tunings. From higher, more open jazz settings to deeper, contemporary voicings, it remains controlled and musical, making it a versatile choice for drummers who cover multiple styles.

• Integrated Sub Muffl Technology - Built-in muffling controls excessive overtones and ring, giving you a focused, punchy bass drum sound without extra damping materials. This saves time in setup and helps you achieve a reliable, mix-ready tone at every gig.
• 10-mil Single Ply Coated Construction - The single 10-mil ply offers a familiar, responsive feel under the beater, while the coated surface adds warmth and definition. This balance of sensitivity and durability makes it suitable for a wide range of playing styles.
• Enhanced Attack with Subsonic Lows - The head is voiced for a clear, defined attack complemented by deep, subsonic low frequencies. This combination helps your kick cut through on stage while still delivering the low-end weight that modern productions demand.
• Wide Tuning Range for Jazz and Contemporary Styles - Engineered to perform across a broad tuning spectrum, the Ambassador SMT Coated Ebony adapts easily to jazz, pop, rock and other contemporary genres. You can fine-tune your sound to suit the music without losing control or clarity.
