Remo, Ambassador SMT Coated Kick Ebony Drumhead, 18"

The Remo Ambassador SMT Coated Ebony 18" kick drumhead is a pre-muffled bass head that delivers focused highs and mids with powerful, controlled low-end punch. Featuring Remo’s Sub Muffl Technology and a classic coated single-ply construction, it offers a broad tuning range that suits everything from intimate jazz to modern, punchy contemporary styles.

Designed to give you a finished, mix-ready bass drum sound straight out of the box, the Ambassador SMT Coated Ebony head reduces the need for extra damping inside the drum. The internal muffling ring works with the 10-mil film to tame unwanted overtones while still allowing your drum to breathe, giving you a tight, articulate response with added subsonic weight when you dig in.

The coated surface adds a touch of warmth and extra attack, helping the beater definition cut through on stage or in the studio. At the same time, the ebony look gives your kit a sleek, modern aesthetic that pairs well with a wide range of shell finishes. Whether you are playing low, open jazz tunings or tighter, punchier contemporary setups, this head is built to respond musically across a wide spectrum.

If you want a bass drum sound that is controlled but not choked, with deep lows, clear mids and a touch of top-end presence, the Ambassador SMT Coated Ebony 18" is a superb upgrade for compact kicks and jazz-sized bass drums.

Sub Muffl Technology

Sub Muffl Technology integrates a pre-formed internal muffling system directly into the head, giving you controlled sustain and focused tone without resorting to pillows or external dampers. This keeps your bass drum sound consistent from gig to gig and simplifies your setup.

Coated Single Ply Feel

The 10-mil single ply coated film offers a responsive, dynamic feel under the beater, ideal for players who rely on touch and nuance. The coating adds warmth and a slightly drier top end, helping your attack sit nicely in the mix without harshness.

Broad Tuning Range

Engineered with a wide usable tuning spectrum, the Ambassador SMT Coated Ebony works equally well at low, booming tunings for jazz and at higher, punchier tunings for contemporary styles. This flexibility makes it a versatile choice for drummers who cover multiple genres with a single kit.

Powerful Low-End with Controlled Highs

The combination of pre-muffling and single ply construction delivers controlled high and mid frequencies with powerful, musical low tones. You get extra attack and subsonic low frequencies when you need to be felt as well as heard, while keeping unwanted ring firmly in check.

• Pre-Muffled Sub Muffl Design - Built-in Sub Muffl Technology provides consistent, controlled damping, reducing excess boom and overtones so your bass drum sounds tight and focused without additional internal muffling.
• 10-mil Single Ply Coated Film - The classic 10-mil single ply construction delivers a responsive feel and wide dynamic range, while the coated surface adds warmth and articulation, ideal for detailed footwork and expressive playing.
• Broad Tonal Spectrum for Jazz and Contemporary - Designed to perform across a wide tuning range, this head supports low, open jazz tunings as well as more controlled, punchy contemporary sounds, making it a flexible option for varied musical settings.
• Enhanced Attack with Subsonic Lows - The head balances clear beater attack with deep, subsonic low frequencies, helping your kick drum cut through the mix while still delivering the kind of low-end weight that you can feel on stage.
