Product Description
The Paiste 18" PSTX Swiss Flanger Crash is a light, ultra-responsive effects cymbal that delivers explosive, fluttering accents with a short, controlled decay. Designed for drummers who want something more exotic than a standard crash, it brings a warm yet slightly tinny character that slices through the mix without overpowering the kit.
With its distinctive perforated "Swiss" design and thin, flabby feel, this cymbal reacts instantly to the lightest touch. It blooms into a complex, rough wash that fades quickly, making it ideal for precise punctuation in modern rock, pop, fusion, electronic-influenced styles and beyond. Whether you are playing with sticks or hands, it offers a lively, musical response that invites creative phrasing and off-kilter textures.
The PSTX Swiss Flanger Crash is all about character and control. Its medium sound colour and frequency range keep it usable in a wide variety of musical settings, while the complex mix and washy stick sound ensure it never feels sterile. You get all the drama of an effects cymbal, but with a warmth and richness that blends beautifully with your existing crashes and stacks.
If you are looking to expand your sonic palette with a cymbal that is both expressive and easy to tame, the Paiste 18" PSTX Swiss Flanger Crash is a powerful addition to any setup. From quick, explosive accents to hand-played textures, it rewards a dynamic touch and adds a unique voice to your cymbal arsenal.
Exotic, Fluttering Crash Voice
The PSTX Swiss Flanger Crash delivers an exotic, warm, fluttering sound with a slightly tinny edge. Its medium-range, complex mix gives you a rich, characterful crash that stands out from traditional cymbals, perfect for adding signature accents and ear-catching transitions to your grooves and fills.
Light, Soft-Feeling Construction
Built light with a soft feel under the stick, this cymbal responds effortlessly to even the gentlest strokes. The flabby playing sensation makes it easy to coax out expressive swells and quick splashes, so you can play dynamically without having to hit hard, ideal for lower-volume stages and controlled studio work.
Quick, Explosive Response
With a lively response intensity and short sustain, the PSTX Swiss Flanger Crash explodes on impact then gets out of the way. This makes it perfect for precise accents where you need impact without lingering wash, keeping your grooves tight and your mix clear in fast, busy arrangements.
Versatile for Sticks and Hand Playing
The integrated bell character and washy stick sound make it a natural fit in a full kit setup, while its sensitivity and soft feel also lend themselves to hand playing. This versatility lets you move seamlessly between drum kit, hybrid, and percussion contexts, unlocking creative textures in both live and studio situations.
Features
- 18" Light Effects Crash - The 18" diameter and light weight give a fast, explosive crash that opens up instantly and decays quickly, ideal for sharp accents and dynamic punctuation in modern drumming.
- Exotic, Warm, Fluttering Tone - A medium-range, complex frequency mix produces a warm yet slightly tinny character, adding a unique, fluttering voice that complements rather than duplicates your existing crashes.
- Soft Feel with Lively Response - The soft, flabby feel and lively response intensity make the cymbal extremely touch-sensitive, so you can achieve everything from subtle splashes to full-power accents without excessive effort.
- Short, Controlled Sustain - The quick-fading sustain and integrated bell keep the sound tight and focused, helping your playing stay articulate and preventing the cymbal wash from cluttering dense mixes.
