Product Description
The Mr Black TunnelWorm Throwback Special Flanger captures the elusive, haunting sweep of true through zero flanging in a compact, pedalboard friendly box. Once the preserve of studio engineers juggling twin reel to reel machines, that unmistakable tubular whoosh is now ready to drop straight onto your board, with enough range to cover classic flanger, lush chorus and swirling rotary style textures too.
With its dedicated Zero control, wide ranging Rate knob and generous headroom, TunnelWorm is as happy adding subtle movement to clean chords as it is delivering full on jet plane sweeps and psychedelic pitch dives. Guitar, bass or keys all slot in effortlessly, and true bypass switching keeps your core tone intact when the effect is off.
Whether you are chasing vintage tape flanging, shimmering modulation for ambient soundscapes or a chewy, liquid wobble for leads, TunnelWorm makes it quick and intuitive to dial in. Set and forget for always on movement, or kick it in for dramatic, through zero drops that cut through a mix and turn heads on stage and in the studio.
All of this comes in a compact enclosure that saves valuable pedalboard real estate, runs from a standard 9V centre negative supply and draws comfortably under 60 mA. It is a powerful, characterful modulation tool that rewards experimentation and delivers inspiring sounds at every setting.
Through Zero Flanging In A Pedal
At higher settings of the Zero control, TunnelWorm delivers genuine through zero flanging, recreating the tape based effect where the modulated signal actually crosses and cancels the dry sound for that unmistakable hollow, tubular sweep. You get the drama and depth of classic studio tricks without the complexity or cost of vintage outboard gear.
From Classic Flange To Chorus And Rotary
Back the Zero knob down and TunnelWorm morphs into a versatile modulation workhorse, covering traditional pedal flanger tones, airy chorus and watery rotary style sounds. One pedal can move from subtle shimmer to full on swoosh, making it ideal if you want a wide palette of modulation without crowding your board.
Wide Rate Range And High Headroom
The wide ranging Rate control lets you sweep from slow, syrupy movement to fast, warbly textures, while the high input headroom handles signals up to 3 V peak to peak. That means it stays clean and composed with hot pickups, boosts and line level sources, making it equally at home with guitars, basses and keyboards.
Compact, True Bypass Design
With its small footprint, TunnelWorm fits easily onto crowded pedalboards, yet still offers full size control and performance. True bypass switching keeps your dry tone untouched when the pedal is off, so you can enjoy rich, characterful modulation without compromising the integrity of your signal chain.
Features
- Authentic Through Zero Flanging - The dedicated Zero control lets you dial in real through zero flanging at higher settings, recreating the classic tape technique where the modulated signal passes through and cancels the dry sound for a dramatic, hollow sweep that is instantly recognisable on countless records.
- Versatile Modulation Palette - With the Zero knob set lower, TunnelWorm shifts seamlessly into traditional pedal flanging, lush chorus and watery rotary style tones, giving you multiple modulation flavours from a single compact unit and reducing the need for separate pedals.
- High Headroom For Multiple Instruments - Designed with an input headroom of up to 3 V peak to peak, TunnelWorm comfortably handles electric guitar, bass and keyboards, as well as hotter signals from boosts and preamps, keeping your modulation clear, punchy and free from unwanted distortion.
- Compact, True Bypass Construction - A small enclosure measuring approximately 2.4" x 4.5" x 1.8" saves pedalboard space, while true bypass switching ensures your dry tone remains unaffected when the effect is disengaged, preserving clarity in any rig.
