Product Description

The Meris Ottobit X in Hot Pink is a full stereo modular degradation and texture engine, dripping with vintage 80s gaming nostalgia. From lush pitch shifting and woozy VHS ambience to savage bit crushing and wild real-time glitches, it is a deep creative tool for guitarists, synth players and sound designers who want to push their sounds far beyond the ordinary. This limited Hot Pink finish adds a playful visual twist to a pedal that already begs to be experimented with.

Inside, an advanced bit crush and sample reduction engine, powerful ARM processor and premium analogue signal path give you studio-grade sound quality with extreme flexibility. Five pitch modes, five modulation types, multiple preamps, filters, ambience algorithms and an all-new Glitch section can be combined and controlled via expression, MIDI or the expressive Hold switch, turning Ottobit X into a performance instrument in its own right.

Vintage Gaming Nostalgia, Modern Power

Ottobit X takes the character of classic 8-bit and 16-bit consoles and explodes it into a modern, modular-style environment. The bit crusher runs from pristine 32-bit right down to 1-bit, letting you dial in everything from subtle digital grit to total sonic destruction. Combined with sample rate reduction and lo-fi focused ambience, you can instantly transport your tones into hazy VHS soundtracks, crunchy arcade intros or glitchy sci-fi soundscapes, all with precise control.

Deep Glitch and Real-Time Manipulation

The new Glitch category is where Ottobit X really comes alive for live performance and sound design. Grain Freeze lets you capture and stretch tiny fragments of audio with independent pitch control, while the updated stereo Stutter offers independent playback speed and subdivision per side for complex rhythmic chops. Push Loop and Wikki Wikki act as one-button loopers with expressive speed control, and Tape Stop plus Stutter Step give you dramatic slowdowns and sequenced stutter patterns that can be triggered on the fly.

Expressive Pitch, Modulation and Filters

Five pitch types cover everything from tight harmonies to warped lo-fi detuning. Poly Chroma and Mono Chroma handle harmonised shifts, Micro Tune adds subtle movement, Lo-Fi brings degraded pitch textures, and Otto Tune introduces integrated pitch correction for locked-in melodic lines. The modulation section includes ring mod, frequency shifting, sequenced tremolo and a lush Otto Vibe, while three filter types (Ladder, State Variable and Otto Tron) let you sculpt your tone from warm and musical to sharply resonant and futuristic.

Performance-Ready Control and Connectivity

With 99 preset locations in 33 banks, a dedicated Favourite bank for instant access to your three go-to sounds, and full MIDI control, Ottobit X is ready for complex stage and studio setups. The expressive Hold modifier switch gives you momentary access to key functions, while the dedicated expression pedal input allows multiple parameters to move together for dramatic sweeps and transitions. Stereo ins and outs with switchable headroom make it equally at home with guitars, synths and line-level rigs, and the digitally controlled analogue mix bus keeps your dry signal pristine.

Features
  • Modular Degradation and Texture Engine - A full stereo engine combines advanced bit crushing, sample rate reduction, filters, modulation, pitch and ambience so you can build complex lo-fi textures inside a single pedal. This modular-style approach lets you stack processes in creative ways, turning simple source sounds into rich, evolving soundscapes.
  • Powerful Glitch and Loop Tools - Six Glitch types including Grain Freeze, Stutter, Push Loop, Wikki Wikki, Tape Stop and Stutter Step give you deep real-time manipulation. From chopped-up rhythmic patterns to vinyl-style scratching and dramatic slowdowns, these tools make Ottobit X a performance instrument for live sets and experimental recording.
  • Versatile Pitch, Modulation and Ambience - Five pitch modes, five modulation types and two lo-fi focused ambience algorithms (VHS Delay and VHS Reverb) cover everything from subtle movement to extreme sound mangling. You can create chorused pads, warped leads, shimmering harmonies or degraded echoes that feel like they have been lifted straight from an 80s tape.
  • Preset, MIDI and Expression Control - With 99 presets, a Favourite bank, full MIDI in and out, and assignable expression pedal control, Ottobit X integrates easily into complex rigs. You can recall detailed setups instantly, sync to external beat clock and sweep multiple parameters at once, making it ideal for both studio workflows and tightly programmed live shows.
