Product Description
The Mapex MPX 14 x 6.5 Maple/Poplar Hybrid Shell Snare in Black is a punchy, versatile workhorse that brings serious performance to any kit without breaking the bank. Its hybrid shell delivers a bright, cracking attack with plenty of warmth underneath, making it just as comfortable driving rock backbeats as it is adding articulation to funk, pop or worship settings.
Combining a responsive maple and poplar shell with SONIClear bearing edges, triple flanged hoops and an Armory Series throw off, this MPX snare is built to tune easily, respond quickly and sit confidently in any mix. Finished in sleek Midnight Black and fitted with Remo UX heads, it is a smart upgrade for beginners and a reliable secondary snare for more experienced players.
Hybrid Maple/Poplar Shell Tone
The 7.2 mm hybrid shell blends maple and poplar to give you the best of both worlds: maple adds clarity, projection and definition, while poplar introduces a warm, rounded body to each stroke. The result is a snare sound that cracks when you dig in, yet still feels musical and controlled at lower dynamics, ideal for players who need one drum to cover a wide range of styles.
14 x 6.5 Versatile Size
With a 14 inch diameter and 6.5 inch depth, this MPX snare offers a satisfying low-end body alongside a crisp, cutting top. You can tune it higher for a tight, articulate pop or lower for a fatter, more aggressive rock voice, making it a flexible choice for rehearsals, gigs and studio sessions alike.
Armory Series Throw Off
The inclusion of a Mapex Armory Series throw off gives this snare a smooth, reliable snare wire action usually found on higher tier drums. Switching between engaged and disengaged snare sounds is quick and precise, so you can execute snare-off passages or dramatic drops mid-song with confidence and consistency.
Stable Hoops and Quality Heads
1.3 mm triple flanged hoops provide a familiar, open feel under the sticks while helping to keep your tuning stable across the drum. Paired with Remo UX drumheads straight out of the box, the MPX snare is ready to play immediately, giving you a focused, usable tone without the need for instant upgrades.
