Product Description
The Mapex MPX 14x3.5 Steel Snare Drum is a compact, punchy side snare that delivers crisp articulation and bright, cutting tone at an incredibly accessible price. With a responsive 1.0mm steel shell, chrome finish and Armory Series throwoff, it is a reliable workhorse for drummers who need a tight, focused voice for grooves, accents and creative layering.
Designed to preserve the value that Mapex is known for, this MPX snare packs in high-quality features that enhance both sound and playability. Whether you are adding it to a larger kit as a secondary snare or using it as your main drum for funk, pop or tight studio work, it offers fast response, clear projection and dependable hardware that stands up to regular use.
Bright, Cutting Steel Tone
The 1.0mm steel shell gives this snare a lively, bright character that cuts through dense mixes with ease. Every stroke is expressed with pinpoint accuracy, from ghost notes to rimshots, making it ideal for styles where clarity and definition are essential. The natural projection of steel helps your backbeat stay present and articulate on stage and in the studio.
Compact 14x3.5 Size for Tight, Snappy Response
The shallow 3.5 inch depth keeps the sound tight and controlled, with a fast, snappy response that is perfect for funk, pop, hip hop and modern worship settings. It is also an excellent choice as a side snare for higher tunings and special effects, giving you an extra sonic flavour without taking up much space in your setup.
Armory Series Throwoff
Featuring the Mapex Armory Series throwoff, this MPX snare offers quick, comfortable and smooth snare wire engagement. Adjustments are easy and precise, so you can dial in everything from a crisp, dry snap to a more open, resonant sound with confidence during rehearsals, gigs or sessions.
Low-Mass W-Lugs and Triple Flanged Hoops
The W-Lug design has a smaller footprint for lower overall mass, helping the shell resonate more freely for improved tone and sensitivity. Paired with 1.5mm triple flanged hoops, the drum feels responsive under the sticks, with a familiar, open rimshot and a tuning range that is straightforward to manage.
Features
- 1.0mm Steel Shell - The steel shell delivers a bright, cutting voice with excellent projection, ensuring every note is heard clearly in live and studio situations while maintaining strong dynamic response.
- Compact 14x3.5 Size - The shallow depth provides a tight, snappy sound with quick response, making it ideal as a main snare for crisp, modern grooves or as a versatile side snare for higher tunings and accents.
- Armory Series Throwoff - The smooth, reliable throwoff mechanism allows for fast on/off operation and easy tension adjustments, so you can fine tune your snare sound quickly and keep it consistent throughout your performance.
- W-Lugs with Chrome Hardware - Low-mass W-Lugs reduce shell contact to enhance resonance, while the chrome hardware and triple flanged hoops provide stable tuning and a clean, professional look that suits any kit.
