The Lollar sB Strat Pickup Set in Matte Black / Gold delivers a thicker, more vocal take on classic Strat tones, inspired by one coil of Lollar’s acclaimed dB humbucker. Designed as a direct drop-in for traditional Strat routes, these blade-style single-coils offer smooth PAF-like warmth, stronger sustain and a blooming note attack, while still retaining the clarity and definition that Strat players rely on.
Instead of the typical glassy, bright and scooped single-coil sound, the sB set shifts the focus towards a punchy lower midrange and a more solid fundamental. The result is a set that feels bigger and more authoritative under the fingers, yet stays articulate enough for complex chords, expressive leads and dynamic clean work. Finished in a sleek Matte Black with Gold detailing, they look as refined as they sound.
Whether you are upgrading a workhorse Strat or putting the finishing touch on a custom build, the sB Strat set gives you a modern, blade-style voice with a distinctly musical, humbucker-inspired character. They are equally at home as a full three-pickup set or paired with a Lollar dB humbucker in the bridge for a powerful SSH configuration.
Blade-Style Single-Coils With PAF-Inspired Warmth
The sB for Strat takes one side of Lollar’s dB humbucker and reshapes it into a single-coil footprint, giving you a smoother, more vocal tone than a typical Strat pickup. Expect a strong lower midrange and a rounded top end that feels closer to a refined PAF than a bright, scooped single-coil, ideal for players who want more body and musicality without losing single-coil nuance.
Thicker Voice With Exceptional Clarity
Compared to a standard Strat set, the sB pickups sound noticeably thicker and more substantial, yet they still retain impressive clarity and note separation. Chords stay defined, complex voicings remain intelligible and lead lines cut through the mix without harshness, making them suitable for everything from soulful blues to modern rock.
Enhanced Sustain And Bloom
One of the hallmarks of the sB design is the way notes bloom after the initial pick attack. You will notice a stronger sustain and a more expressive rise in the note, giving bends, vibrato and held chords a singing quality that responds beautifully to your touch and dynamics.
Drop-In Strat Fit With Versatile Set Options
Each sB coil is built to fit a traditional Strat pickup route, so installation is straightforward on most Strat-style guitars. The set is voiced with dedicated neck, middle and bridge pickups, and can be used as a complete three-piece set or combined with a Lollar dB humbucker in the bridge for a powerful SSH layout that maintains a consistent aesthetic and tonal family across all positions.
Features
- PAF-Inspired Tonality In A Strat Format - By basing the design on one coil of the dB humbucker, the sB Strat set delivers a smoother, more vocal sound than typical Strat single-coils, giving you humbucker-like warmth and presence while preserving the articulation and responsiveness of a single-coil.
- Thicker, Lower-Mid Focused Voice - The emphasis on the lower midrange provides a fuller, more powerful tone that fills out the mix, helping leads feel bigger and rhythm parts sound more authoritative without becoming muddy or indistinct.
- Improved Sustain And Dynamic Response - Designed for a stronger sustain and a blooming note attack, these pickups reward expressive playing, making bends, slides and subtle dynamics more noticeable and musical.
- Matched Three-Piece Set With SSH Compatibility - Supplied as dedicated neck, middle and bridge pickups, the sB set offers balanced output and consistent feel across all positions, and can also be paired with a Lollar dB humbucker in the bridge for players seeking a cohesive SSH configuration.
