The Modstar 5089 offers the Studio Electronics recreation of the classic Moog discrete analogue voltage controlled low pass filter now made as a module for eurorack systems. Using hand matched transistors, the 5089 offers unsurpassed sonic quality and a range of tonal options.
Featuring a 24 db/oct transistor ladder low-pass filter, the 5089 offers a subtractive analog sound synthesis foundation. Studio Electronics say that the 5089 is "the roundest, slickest tone of all the Boomstar's filters", with a balanced and rich sound. It's capable of warm creamy subtle tones, or you can crank it up for some seriously satisfying overdrive and rich saturation.
Get that awesome vintage 60's and 70's harmonic distortion and transform your patch with the 5089's full range of parameters
The AMP, the 5089, and the 3003 are Class A circuits. They draw more current from the +12 rail than from the -12 volt rail. If the system power supply is under-sized, hum or buzz may be heard. In that case, larger filter capacitors and/or a larger power transformer will be needed. The 4075 draws equally from both rails, and is more immune to hum.
