Ibanez TCB1006 Thundercat Signature 6-String Bass Guitar

The Ibanez TCB1006 Thundercat Signature Bass is a wildly expressive 6 string semi-hollow designed in collaboration with genre-bending bass icon Thundercat. With its Autumn Leaf Burst Matte finish, boutique woods and a powerful hybrid magnetic, piezo and MIDI system, this is a serious creative tool for players who want to move effortlessly from vintage warmth to futuristic soundscapes on a single instrument.

At its core, the TCB1006 combines a resonant Maple body construction with a fast 5 piece Maple and Purpleheart neck and a Rosewood fretboard, giving you a tight, articulate response that still feels rich and musical. EMG 45HZ humbuckers deliver punchy, low-noise tones, while the Graph Tech Ghost modular pickup system opens the door to convincing acoustic textures and full MIDI control. Finished off with premium Hipshot hardware and Custom Shop fretwork, this bass is built to perform at the highest level on stage and in the studio.

Thundercat Signature Feel and Aesthetic

Inspired by Thundercat’s unmistakable style, the TCB1006 pairs a stunning Quilted Maple top with Curly Maple back and sides for a luxurious semi-hollow look. The Autumn Leaf Burst Matte finish highlights the figuring without glare, while gold hardware and acrylic block inlays complete the high-end, vintage-meets-modern vibe. It is an instrument that looks as individual as the music it inspires.

Comfortable 6 String Playability

The 5 piece Maple and Purpleheart neck offers excellent stability and a clear, focused attack, ideal for extended range bass lines and chordal work. A Rosewood fretboard adds warmth and a balanced midrange, while jumbo frets with a Custom Shop fret edge treatment feel exceptionally smooth under the fingers. Whether you are soloing high up the neck or digging into low B riffs, the TCB1006 stays comfortable and precise.

Magnetic, Piezo and MIDI Power

Dual EMG 45HZ passive humbuckers provide a strong, noise-free foundation with plenty of output and warmth. The Graph Tech Ghost modular pickup system adds a piezo voice for bright, acoustic-like tones and unlocks full MIDI capability. With dedicated knobs and three toggle switches for MIDI, mix and Magnetic and Piezo selection, MIDI programme up and down, plus a Mid and Dark EQ selector, you can move from classic bass sounds to layered, synth-like textures in an instant.

Professional Hardware and Reliable Performance

Hipshot Ultralite machine heads keep the headstock weight down for better balance and reduced neck dive, while maintaining rock-solid tuning stability. The Hipshot A style bridge with 18 mm string spacing gives your plucking hand extra room for techniques like slap, double thumbing and intricate fingerstyle patterns, without sacrificing comfort. A DURACON nut and robust construction round out a bass that is ready for demanding professional use.

• Graph Tech Ghost Modular Pickup System with MIDI - The integrated Ghost system adds piezo and MIDI outputs alongside the magnetic pickups, letting you blend natural acoustic-style tones, classic bass sounds and full MIDI control. With dedicated switches for MIDI and mix modes, MIDI programme up and down, plus Mid and Dark EQ options, you can sculpt complex, performance-ready sounds directly from the bass.
• EMG 45HZ Passive Humbucking Pickups - A pair of EMG 45HZ humbuckers delivers a powerful, low-noise signal with plenty of output and warmth. They provide a solid, punchy core tone that works brilliantly for everything from tight, modern grooves to smooth, singing chords, and they pair perfectly with the Ghost system for layered, expressive sound design.
• Premium Maple Construction with Autumn Leaf Burst Matte Finish - The Quilted Maple top and Curly Maple back and sides not only look stunning but also contribute to a clear, articulate and resonant tone. The Autumn Leaf Burst Matte finish enhances the figuring while keeping reflections to a minimum under stage lights, giving you a bass that is both visually striking and practically designed for performance.
• Hipshot Ultralite Tuners and A Style Bridge - Hipshot Ultralite machine heads reduce headstock weight for improved balance, helping the bass sit comfortably whether you are standing or seated. The Hipshot A style bridge with 18 mm spacing offers extra room for advanced right hand techniques, giving you the freedom to play aggressively or delicately without feeling cramped.
