Product Description
The Ibanez M8M is the ultimate precision tool for modern extreme metal, created in close collaboration with Meshuggah’s Mårten Hagström. With its colossal 29.4" scale length, neck-through construction and a single Lundgren Model M8 humbucker, this stripped-back 8 string is engineered for devastatingly tight low-end, rock-solid tuning stability and brutal high-gain clarity, all wrapped in a stealthy black finish.
Every element of the M8M is designed to keep you locked into the groove. The extended 747 mm scale keeps low tunings articulate and controlled, while the FX Edge III-8 double-locking fixed bridge and locking nut deliver exceptional tuning stability under the heaviest right-hand attack. A 5 piece Maple and Jatoba neck runs through Alder body wings for massive sustain and a fast, consistent feel across all 24 frets.
Tonally, the M8M is unapologetically aggressive. The passive Lundgren Model M8 bridge pickup is voiced for tight, percussive chugs and complex chords that cut through dense mixes without getting muddy. Paired with a simple single-volume control layout, it lets you focus entirely on your playing and tone, not on juggling multiple switches and knobs.
Visually, the guitar mirrors Meshuggah’s uncompromising aesthetic. The oil finish, dark Rosewood fretboard and black hardware keep things minimal and menacing, while Custom Shop-level fretwork ensures a smooth, low action that can handle everything from intricate polyrhythms to wide-interval leads. If you are chasing the precision, punch and playability that define modern djent and extreme metal, the M8M is built to deliver.
Extended 29.4" Scale for Tight Low Tunings
The M8M’s massive 747 mm (29.4") scale length is purpose-built for ultra-low tunings on an 8 string. The extra string tension keeps the low strings firm and responsive, reducing flub and improving intonation so your riffs stay tight and defined, even with aggressive picking and high-gain settings.
Neck-Through Construction for Sustain and Stability
A 5 piece Maple and Jatoba neck runs the full length of the guitar, joined by Alder body wings. This neck-through design enhances sustain, improves note consistency across the fretboard and offers excellent structural stability, ideal for handling the extra tension of an 8 string in low tunings.
Lundgren Model M8 Bridge Pickup
The passive Lundgren Model M8 humbucker is voiced specifically for extended-range metal. It delivers razor-sharp attack, tight low-end and clear, cutting mids, allowing complex chords, rapid-fire riffs and dissonant voicings to remain articulate under heavy distortion.
FX Edge III-8 Double-Locking Fixed Bridge
The FX Edge III-8 bridge combines the rock-solid feel of a fixed bridge with double-locking security. Working together with the locking nut, it keeps your tuning stable through intense playing, wide vibrato and heavy palm muting, so you can perform with confidence on stage and in the studio.
