Product Description
The Ibanez K5-BKF is Fieldy from Korn’s signature 5-string bass, purpose-built for tight, percussive low end and ultra-modern metal tones. With a lightweight Okoume body, powerful active electronics and rock-solid hardware, it is designed to deliver that unmistakable, chest-rattling Korn sound while remaining comfortable enough for long rehearsals and high-energy shows.
At its core is a fast 5-piece Maple and Walnut neck paired with a Rosewood fretboard, giving you the clarity, snap and focused punch needed for down-tuned riffs and ghost-note heavy grooves. IBZ ADX5 pickups and a Vari-Mid 3-band EQ provide a wide range of aggressive, high-output tones that can be sculpted precisely to sit perfectly in a dense mix. Finished in a stealthy Black Flat satin polyurethane, this bass looks as mean as it sounds.
Whether you are chasing Fieldy’s signature clanking, scooped tone or simply want a versatile, modern 5-string that excels in heavy styles, the K5-BKF delivers the feel, response and sonic authority demanded by contemporary metal and rock bassists.
Fast, Focused Neck for Aggressive Playing
The 5-piece Maple and Walnut neck offers excellent stability and a bright, articulate response, ideal for fast, intricate lines and tight rhythmic playing. Medium frets keep the feel smooth and controlled across all 24 frets, helping you play accurately at speed while maintaining a comfortable touch for both fingerstyle and pick players.
Lightweight Body with Powerful Resonance
The Okoume body keeps overall weight down to help reduce fatigue during long sets, while still providing a bright, solid acoustic character that translates into a punchy, present amplified tone. Its compact shape and balanced design make the K5-BKF easy to handle on stage or in the studio.
High-Output Active Electronics
A pair of IBZ ADX5 pickups deliver the high output and clarity required for modern metal and rock, retaining definition even under heavy distortion. The active Vari-Mid 3-band EQ with variable mid control lets you dial in everything from Fieldy’s signature scooped sound to more mid-forward tones that cut through any mix, giving you precise control over your place in the band’s sonic landscape.
Stable, Road-Ready Hardware
Hipshot Ultralite tuners offer excellent tuning stability while helping to keep the headstock light, reducing neck dive and improving overall balance. The EB-7 aluminium-based bridge provides a steady, reliable anchor point for the strings, combining lightweight construction with solid performance for consistent sustain and intonation.
Features
- 5-Piece Maple/Walnut Neck - The multi-piece construction enhances stability and resists warping, ideal for lower tunings and touring conditions. Maple and Walnut combine for a bright, snappy response that keeps your attack clear and defined, even in dense mixes.
- IBZ ADX5 Active Pickups - These high-output pickups are voiced for modern tones, delivering tight lows, clear mids and crisp highs. They handle heavy gain and effects with ease, ensuring your notes remain articulate whether you are playing subtle grooves or aggressive riffs.
- Vari-Mid 3-Band EQ - The active EQ with variable mid control allows you to fine-tune your sound on the fly. Scoop the mids for that classic Fieldy-style clank or push them forward for extra presence and cut, giving you the flexibility to adapt to different songs, rooms and rigs.
- Lightweight Okoume Body with Hipshot Ultralite Hardware - The combination of a light Okoume body and Hipshot Ultralite tuners keeps the bass comfortable and well-balanced, reducing strain during long performances. This helps you focus on your playing rather than fighting neck dive or excessive weight.
