Product Description
The Ibanez GSR186-TUM brings true 6-string bass power into the ultra-accessible GIO range, giving you extended low and high range in a lightweight, comfortable package. With its sleek Tungsten Matte finish, slim GSR6 neck and punchy Dynamix H pickups, it is a brilliant choice for players stepping up to 6 strings for the first time or anyone wanting huge versatility without a huge price tag.
From modern metal and djent to gospel, fusion and progressive rock, the GSR186-TUM is built to handle complex lines and wide-interval chords while still feeling familiar under the fingers. A simple control layout and Ibanez Phat II EQ make it easy to dial in everything from tight, focused lows to bright, cutting slap tones, so you can concentrate on your playing rather than fighting your gear.
Extended 6-String Range
The 6-string configuration opens up a massive tonal palette, letting you cover everything from sub-heavy riffs to melodic chord work and solos on the upper strings. Whether you are tuning low for modern metal or exploring jazz-inspired voicings, the extra strings give you more options without needing to switch instruments mid-set.
Comfortable, Lightweight Poplar Body
The poplar body keeps the overall weight down, making long rehearsals and gigs far more comfortable. Combined with the ergonomic SR-style body shape, the GSR186-TUM sits naturally against the player whether standing or seated, helping you maintain good technique and reducing fatigue during demanding sets.
Slim, Player-Friendly GSR6 Neck
Handling a wider 6-string fretboard can be daunting, but the slim GSR6 maple neck is designed to make the transition as smooth as possible. Its fast, comfortable profile and 24-fret layout encourage adventurous playing across the whole neck, while white dot inlays keep navigation clear on dark stages.
Powerful Dynamix H Pickups with Phat II EQ
A pair of Dynamix H pickups deliver a strong, balanced voice that works across multiple genres, from tight, articulate fingerstyle to aggressive picked tones. The Ibanez Phat II EQ adds extra low-end boost on tap, letting you fatten up your sound instantly for heavier sections or fuller lines without needing external pedals.
Features
- 6-String Configuration - The extended range lets you access both deeper lows and higher melodic territory on a single instrument, ideal for modern styles, solo bass work and complex arrangements where you need maximum flexibility.
- Tungsten Matte Satin Finish - The Tungsten Matte finish gives the bass a contemporary, stealthy look while the satin texture feels smooth and non-sticky, helping your hands move freely during fast passages and long sets.
- Slim GSR6 Maple Neck - Designed for comfort and speed, the GSR6 neck profile makes wider 6-string spacing more manageable, supporting clean technique, fast runs and extended chord shapes without feeling bulky.
- Dynamix H Pickups with Simple Controls - Dual Dynamix H pickups provide a clear, punchy and versatile tone, while the straightforward control layout keeps sound-shaping intuitive so you can make quick adjustments on stage or in the studio.
