Product Description
The Ibanez GA5MHTCE-OPN is a comfortable, stage-ready classical electro acoustic that blends traditional nylon-string tone with modern playability. Its slim thinline cutaway body, open pore natural finish and lightweight build make it ideal for long practice sessions, intimate gigs and worship settings, while the onboard electronics ensure your sound translates clearly when you plug in.
Built with a sapele body, okoume neck and purpleheart fretboard and bridge, this GA Series model delivers a warm, rounded classical voice with plenty of clarity and projection. The Ibanez undersaddle pickup and AEQ-2T preamp give you simple, effective control over your tone, along with a handy onboard tuner so you can stay in tune wherever you play.
Comfortable Thinline Classical Design
The GA5MHTCE-OPN features a thinline cutaway classical body that feels noticeably slimmer and lighter than a traditional full-depth classical guitar. This makes it easier to hold and play for extended periods, whether you are seated or standing. The cutaway also opens up access to the upper frets, so you can explore higher-register melodies and solos without fighting the body of the guitar.
Warm, Expressive Sapele Body
With a sapele top, back and sides, this guitar offers a warm, full-bodied tone with a pleasing balance of lows, mids and bright detail. Sapele responds well to both gentle fingerstyle and more percussive strumming, giving you a versatile tonal palette for classical pieces, Latin styles or modern acoustic arrangements. The open pore polyurethane finish lets the wood breathe and resonate more freely, adding to the guitar's natural, organic character.
Smooth Okoume Neck and Purpleheart Appointments
The okoume neck is crafted for smooth playability and a comfortable feel in the hand, helping you move up and down the 21 frets with ease. A purpleheart fretboard adds a touch of visual elegance while contributing a focused, articulate response to your notes. The matching purpleheart bridge ensures solid vibration transfer from the strings into the body, supporting sustain and a consistent, reliable tone.
Stage Ready Electronics with Onboard Tuner
Equipped with an Ibanez undersaddle pickup and AEQ-2T preamp, the GA5MHTCE-OPN is ready to plug straight into an amp or PA. The pickup accurately captures the guitar's natural acoustic voice, while the bass and treble controls let you quickly tailor your sound to different rooms and systems. The built-in tuner operates even when you are not plugged in, making it easy to tune up quietly at home, in rehearsal or on stage.
Features
- Thinline Cutaway Classical Body - A slimmer, more compact body profile offers enhanced comfort and easier handling, especially for smaller players or those moving from electric guitar. The cutaway design improves access to higher frets, opening up more expressive playing options.
- Sapele Top, Back and Sides - Sapele provides a warm, rounded acoustic voice with clear highs and supportive lows. This balanced tonal character suits everything from traditional classical repertoire to modern fingerstyle and accompaniment work.
- Ibanez Undersaddle Pickup with AEQ-2T Preamp - The undersaddle pickup delivers a clear, natural amplified sound, while the AEQ-2T preamp gives you intuitive bass and treble control. This makes it simple to dial in a usable live tone quickly, whether you are playing through an acoustic amp or a PA system.
- Purpleheart Fretboard and Bridge - The purpleheart fretboard adds smooth feel and visual flair, while the matching bridge ensures efficient transfer of string vibration into the body. Together they support stable intonation, reliable performance and a refined playing experience.
