Product Description
The Ibanez EWP12EWB-OPN is a compact piccolo electro acoustic that delivers a surprisingly full, articulate voice in a highly portable package. With its acacia construction, tenor-sized EW body and stage-ready electronics, it is perfect for players who want a unique, bright acoustic flavour for travel, songwriting, live performance or adding a fresh texture to recordings.
Despite its smaller scale and body, this guitar feels reassuringly familiar under the fingers, with a comfortable okoume neck and smooth Purpleheart fingerboard making chords, melodies and intricate fingerstyle lines effortless. Plugged in, the undersaddle pickup and AEQ-2U preamp capture the instrument's natural character with clarity, while the onboard tuner and EQ keep you in control wherever you play.
Visually, the EWP12EWB-OPN stands out with its Open Pore Natural finish, allowing the acacia grain to show through and giving a tactile, organic feel. The Florentine cutaway not only adds a stylish edge but also makes upper-fret access easy, encouraging you to explore the full 19-fret range. Whether you are a guitarist looking for a fresh tonal colour or a travelling musician needing a compact yet capable acoustic, this piccolo model offers a distinctive and inspiring playing experience.
Compact Piccolo Tenor Body
The piccolo-sized Cutaway Tenor EW body offers a smaller footprint that is easy to handle, transport and store, making it ideal for travelling, casual playing at home or players with a smaller frame. Despite its compact dimensions, the body shape is designed to project clearly, so your playing remains articulate and present.
Acacia Top, Back and Sides
Acacia for the top, back and sides provides a warm midrange with bright, dry treble response that cuts through without sounding harsh. This tonal balance makes the EWP12EWB-OPN excellent for melodic lines, chord work and percussive techniques, adding a distinctive voice that complements full-sized acoustics in an ensemble or recording.
Comfortable Okoume Neck with Purpleheart Appointments
The okoume neck and Purpleheart fingerboard offer smooth, balanced playability, helping your fretting hand move easily along the shorter 432 mm scale. The Purpleheart bridge works in tandem with the fingerboard to enhance warmth and resonance, giving each note a pleasing sustain and clarity.
Stage Ready Electronics
An Ibanez undersaddle pickup feeds the AEQ-2U preamp, accurately translating the guitar's acoustic character when amplified. With onboard EQ and a built-in tuner powered by CR2032 batteries, you can quickly shape your sound and stay in tune on stage or in rehearsal without relying on external gear.
Features
- Piccolo Sized Cutaway Tenor EW Body - The compact body improves comfort and portability, making it easy to take the guitar anywhere while still delivering a focused, articulate acoustic tone that stands out in mixes and small performance spaces.
- All Acacia Construction - Acacia top, back and sides create a warm yet bright tonal profile, with clear mids and crisp trebles that suit fingerpicking, strumming and melodic playing, giving you a unique alternative to more traditional tonewoods.
- AEQ 2U Preamp with Undersaddle Pickup - The Ibanez undersaddle pickup and AEQ 2U preamp provide a reliable, natural sounding amplified tone, while the onboard tuner and EQ controls let you fine tune your sound and intonation directly from the guitar.
- Purpleheart Fingerboard and Bridge - The Purpleheart fingerboard offers a smooth playing surface with a refined feel, and the matching Purpleheart bridge helps enhance tonal warmth and resonance, supporting stable performance and consistent response across all six strings.
