Ibanez AZ22S1F-VLS AZ Standard Electric Guitar in Violin Sunburst

The Ibanez AZ22S1F-VLS AZ Standard is a highly adaptable, modern S-style electric guitar that feels instantly familiar yet is engineered for today’s players. With a sleek roasted Maple neck, a resonant Flamed Maple and Alder body and a versatile HSS pickup configuration paired with the dyna-MIX9 switching system, it comfortably covers everything from glassy cleans and soulful blues to technical fusion and high-gain riffing.

Part of the acclaimed AZ series, this model focuses on effortless playability and real-world performance. The smooth oval neck profile, Super All Access Neck Joint and jumbo stainless steel frets make complex chords, wide bends and fast runs feel natural and controlled. Add in rock-solid tuning stability from locking machine heads and a precise T106 tremolo, and you have a workhorse instrument that is ready for stage, studio and serious practice alike.

Modern Comfort, Classic Feel

The AZ22S1F-VLS features a roasted Maple neck with a comfortable, oval grip that sits naturally in the hand. Roasting the Maple improves stability and resistance to changes in temperature and humidity, helping the neck stay straight and reliable over time. Combined with the well-balanced, asymmetrical body shape and a carefully sculpted neck heel, the guitar feels light, ergonomic and inviting, whether you are sitting or standing.

Expressive Neck and Fretboard

A Jatoba fretboard adds a touch of warmth and richness to your tone, with a focused midrange and crisp high end that keeps every note articulate. Jumbo stainless steel frets offer a smooth, fast playing surface and excellent durability, resisting wear for years of consistent performance. Their tall, wide profile makes bending and vibrato feel effortless, while also helping chords ring out clearly across the neck.

Versatile Ibanez Classic Custom Pickups

The Ibanez Classic Custom pickup set delivers a wide tonal palette suitable for many genres. The alnico neck and middle single coils provide warm, clear and dynamic sounds that excel for cleans, edge-of-breakup tones and expressive lead work. The ceramic bridge humbucker adds punch, power and definition for heavier styles, tight rhythm parts and singing solos. Together they offer a flexible foundation that responds well to pedals and amp gain.

dyna-MIX9 Switching and T106 Tremolo

With the dyna-MIX9 switching system and Alter Switch, the AZ22S1F-VLS unlocks nine distinct pickup combinations, including series, parallel and single coil style voices. You can move from thick humbucking tones to bright, snappy single coil sounds with a simple flick, and even access a humbucker-like tone created from two single coils. The T106 tremolo with six independent saddles allows precise intonation and action adjustment for each string, while the locking machine heads help keep tuning stable during bends, vibrato and tremolo use.

• Roasted Maple Neck - The heat-treated roasted Maple neck offers enhanced stability and durability, making it less susceptible to warping from temperature and humidity changes. This gives you a consistent, reliable feel and tuning performance, ideal for regular gigging and travel.
• Flamed Maple Top with Alder Body - A Flamed Maple top adds visual flair and a touch of brightness, while the Alder body provides a balanced tonal core with clear highs, present mids and controlled lows. The result is a resonant, versatile voice that works equally well clean or driven.
• Ibanez Classic Custom HSS Pickups - The combination of alnico single coils in the neck and middle with a ceramic bridge humbucker delivers everything from smooth, articulate cleans to powerful, cutting rock tones. This flexible setup lets you cover multiple genres with one guitar, reducing the need for frequent instrument changes.
• dyna-MIX9 Switching with Alter Switch - The dyna-MIX9 system provides nine distinct pickup configurations, including humbucker and single coil style voices plus a special mode that simulates a humbucker using two single coils. This expanded switching capability gives you a wide range of usable tones at your fingertips, making the AZ22S1F-VLS a true all-rounder.
