Ibanez AFB200-TKS Artcore Hollow-body Bass Guitar in Transparent Black Sunburst

The Ibanez AFB200 Artcore bass is a fully hollow, short-scale 4 string designed for players who want warm, woody acoustic-style tones with the feel and playability of a classic semi-acoustic. With its maple laminate body, Classic Elite Bass pickups and stunning Transparent Black Sunburst finish, it is a characterful, vintage-flavoured instrument that is equally at home on jazz, soul, blues and laid-back indie sessions.

Thanks to its 30.3 inch scale and comfortable 3 piece Nyatoh and Maple neck, the AFB200 feels immediately familiar, even if you are coming from guitar. The shorter scale reduces string tension for an easier, more forgiving playing experience, while the hollow construction and wooden bridge deliver a naturally resonant, rounded low end that sits beautifully in a mix without overpowering it.

Visually, the AFB200 is a real head-turner. The Transparent Black Sunburst gloss finish shows off the maple grain beneath, framed by cream binding and complemented by chrome hardware. It is a bass that looks as refined as it sounds, ideal for players who want a stage-ready instrument with a classic, upmarket aesthetic.

Whether you are laying down mellow walking lines, soulful grooves or rootsy singer-songwriter parts, the AFB200 gives you an expressive, organic voice with the simplicity and reliability of a passive, two-pickup layout.

Warm, Resonant Hollow Body Tone

The fully hollow maple laminate body gives the AFB200 a naturally airy, acoustic-style voice with a rounded low end and smooth, singing mids. This construction helps your notes bloom and resonate, making it perfect for jazz, lounge, soul and any style where warmth and character are more important than aggressive attack.

Comfortable Short-Scale Playability

With a 30.3 inch scale length, the AFB200 offers a softer string feel and a slightly more compact playing area compared to standard long-scale basses. This makes stretches easier, reduces fatigue on longer sets and is particularly inviting for guitarists moving to bass or players with smaller hands.

Classic Elite Bass Pickups and Passive Simplicity

A pair of Classic Elite Bass pickups provides a full, punchy and vintage-inspired tone that complements the hollow body perfectly. The passive electronics keep things straightforward and reliable, letting you focus on your playing while still offering a wide range of usable sounds from warm neck thump to more defined bridge articulation.

Stable Wooden Bridge and Stylish Finishing Touches

The ART-1 wooden bridge and FBT40 tailpiece work together to enhance natural sustain and resonance while maintaining solid tuning stability. Combined with the gloss Transparent Black Sunburst finish, cream binding and chrome hardware, these details give the AFB200 a classy, timeless look that will stand out on any stage.

• Fully Hollow Maple Laminate Body - The maple laminate top, back and sides create a bright yet rounded acoustic-style voice with plenty of resonance. The fully hollow design keeps the bass lightweight and responsive, ideal for expressive, dynamic playing.
• 30.3 Inch Short Scale Neck - The shorter 770 mm scale reduces string tension for a smoother, more forgiving feel under the fingers. This makes complex lines, slides and vibrato easier to control, and is particularly comfortable for players transitioning from guitar.
• Classic Elite Bass Pickups - A matched pair of Classic Elite Bass pickups delivers a rich, punchy tone with a vintage flavour. From warm, supportive lows to articulate midrange definition, they give you versatile sounds that work across jazz, blues, soul and beyond.
• ART-1 Wooden Bridge with FBT40 Tailpiece - The ART-1 wooden bridge enhances the natural resonance of the hollow body while the FBT40 tailpiece provides solid string anchoring. Together they offer reliable tuning stability and a smooth, singing sustain that suits melodic bass lines.
