Product Description
The Hohner Blues Harp D Major Harmonica is a classic 10-hole diatonic designed to deliver that raw, expressive blues tone players love. Tuned to D, it is ideal for guitar-friendly keys and higher-register licks, giving you the cutting, soulful sound that has defined blues, rock and folk recordings for over half a century.
Part of Hohner’s MS (Modular System) range, the Blues Harp combines a warm, double-lacquered wooden comb with responsive brass reeds and durable stainless steel covers. Every component is replaceable and interchangeable with other MS models, so you can tailor the feel and response to your playing style as your technique develops. Whether you are just starting out or already gigging, this is a workhorse harp with authentic tone and flexible construction.
The doussie wood comb gives the Blues Harp its unmistakably earthy voice, with a slightly gritty edge that sits perfectly in a band mix. The 0.9 mm brass reed plates respond quickly to bends, draw notes and expressive vibrato, making it easier to find that vocal, wailing quality associated with classic Chicago and Delta blues. At the same time, the robust build and tried-and-tested design make it a reliable choice for regular practice and performance.
Thanks to its compact 10.5 cm length, the Blues Harp D Major slips easily into a pocket or gig bag, ready whenever inspiration strikes. From smoky slow blues to driving rock riffs and rootsy folk melodies, this harmonica gives you the sound and feel that players around the world have trusted for decades.
Iconic Blues Tone
The Blues Harp name is synonymous with the classic blues sound. Its combination of brass reeds, wooden comb and traditional 10-hole layout delivers a gritty, soulful voice that cuts through a mix, perfect for expressive bends, wails and growls.
MS Modular Construction
As part of Hohner’s MS series, the Blues Harp features a modular design where comb, reed plates and covers are all interchangeable with other MS models. This lets you customise the harp to suit your playing style and easily replace worn parts, extending the life of your instrument.
Warm Doussie Wood Comb
The double-lacquered doussie wood comb provides a warm, organic tone and a comfortable feel at the lips. The lacquered finish helps protect the wood while maintaining the traditional response and resonance that many players prefer over plastic combs.
Optimised for Expressive Playing
With 20 brass reeds and 0.9 mm brass reed plates, the Blues Harp D Major offers quick response and excellent control for bends and dynamic phrasing. The three-octave range gives you plenty of musical territory, from low, moody notes to bright, cutting highs.
