Gibson J-45 Original Electro Acoustic Guitar with Baggs HiFi DNA in Vintage Sunburst

For more than eight decades the Gibson J-45 has been the go-to acoustic for songwriters, session players and touring pros alike. The J-45 Original in Vintage Sunburst captures that legendary Workhorse character with classic round-shoulder looks, a warm, woody voice and a modern Baggs HiFi DNA pickup system that lets you take that iconic tone straight onto the stage or into the studio.

Combining a solid Sitka spruce top with mahogany back and sides, a comfortable SlimTaper mahogany neck and a rosewood fingerboard, this J-45 Original feels instantly familiar and inspiring. Vintage-inspired appointments, from the firestripe pickguard to the open-back Grover tuners and rectangular rosewood bridge, give it an unmistakably old-school vibe, while the advanced electronics deliver a natural amplified sound that stays true to the guitar.

Iconic Workhorse Tone

The time-tested pairing of a Sitka spruce top with mahogany back and sides is at the heart of the J-45 sound. Spruce provides clarity, projection and dynamic range, while mahogany adds warmth, midrange focus and a woody character that sits perfectly in a mix. Whether you are strumming big open chords, flatpicking lines or playing fingerstyle, the J-45 Original responds with a balanced, musical voice that has helped make it one of the most recorded acoustics in history.

Comfortable SlimTaper Neck

The mahogany neck is carved to Gibson’s SlimTaper profile, offering a fast, comfortable feel that suits a wide range of playing styles. Chords feel easy to fret, single-note runs glide under the fingers and long sessions are less fatiguing. The rosewood fingerboard with its 12 inch radius and standard frets provides a smooth playing surface, while mother of pearl dot inlays keep things classic and understated.

Vintage-Inspired Aesthetics

From the Vintage Sunburst finish to the firestripe Advanced Jumbo pickguard, the J-45 Original is steeped in heritage. Multi-ply top binding and single-ply back binding frame the body, while the gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish allows the guitar to resonate freely and age gracefully. The headstock sports the traditional Gibson script logo in mother of pearl, complemented by nickel hardware and Grover open-back tuners for a timeless, workhorse look.

Baggs HiFi DNA Electronics

The Gibson-exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA pickup system brings a modern, high-fidelity approach to acoustic amplification. Two lightweight sensors mounted to the bridge plate, each with its own preamp, capture the full character of the instrument without intruding on its natural acoustic response. The result is a rich, realistic amplified tone with impressive gain-before-feedback, plus discreet soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls for quick, intuitive adjustments on stage.
