Product Description
The Fender Stories Collection celebrates the instruments that helped shape modern music, and few have a story quite like the bass behind legendary session ace Lee Sklar's unmistakable sound. Having laid down iconic grooves for everyone from James Taylor and Carole King to Phil Collins and Jackson Browne, Sklar's road-worn Precision Bass has become every bit as famous as the player himself. Now, Fender brings that instrument to life with a signature model that captures decades of character, craftsmanship and musical history.
A bass built through a lifetime of music
Lee Sklar's beloved Precision Bass evolved over decades of touring, recording and refining, becoming a true extension of his musical personality. Stripped back to bare wood and naturally worn by years of hard work, every mark tells a story. The result is an instrument that's instantly recognisable to bass players across the globe and synonymous with one of the most recorded musicians of all time.
Loaded with Lee's favourite upgrades
What makes this bass so special is the collection of carefully chosen modifications that helped define Sklar's signature tone. Dual EMG Active Lee Sklar P pickups deliver awesome clarity, punch and output, while the rock-solid Badass II bridge enhances sustain. A Hipshot BT3 Bass Xtender also gives you access to quick low-end tuning changes, making this a remarkably versatile and practical instrument.
Effortless feel, legendary tone
Perhaps the most unique feature is the neck. Based on a Precision Bass profile but shaved down closer to Jazz Bass dimensions and fitted with mandolin frets, it offers an incredibly smooth, fast and fluid playing experience. The Fender Lee Sklar Precision Bass is a faithful tribute to a true bass icon, delivering the feel, tone and individuality that helped shape countless classic recordings over the last five decades.

- Alder body: This classic Fender tonewood delivers balanced tone, natural resonance and excellent sustain with clarity across every playing style.
- Satin Heirloom nitrocellulose lacquer finish: Allows the wood to breathe and age naturally, offering a smooth, broken-in feel and the timeworn warmth of a treasured instrument.
- Maple neck with 1962 Jazz Bass "C" Profile: This neck features a slimmer nut width and unique back shape, just like on Lee's personal bass, for improved playability and classic feel.
- 7.25" round-lam Rosewood fingerboard with mandolin frets: Provides warm tone and vintage Fender comfort, while mandolin frets offer a low, sleek profile for a fast feel under the fingers.
- Dual EMG Active Lee Sklar P pickups: Deliver high-output punch and articulate clarity, with the dual configuration giving you loads of sonic legroom.
- Badass II bridge: Delivers enhanced sustain and incredible tuning stability through its high-mass brass construction. Individually adjustable grooved saddles also allow for precise intonation and a personalized setup.
