Fender Custom Shop Tomatillo Telecaster Pickups Set of 2

The Fender Custom Shop Tomatillo Telecaster Pickup Set delivers a sweet, articulate take on classic Tele tone, crafted around Alnico 2 magnets for a warm attack and smooth, musical response. Slightly underwound and shellac potted for extra openness, these pickups offer chimey cleans, touch-sensitive dynamics and a hint of vintage softness that flatters everything from country twang to soulful blues.

Designed by the Fender Custom Shop, Tomatillo Telecaster pickups capture the feel of a well-loved, slightly aged set without losing clarity or definition. An open-coil neck pickup adds extra sparkle and presence in the neck position, while the staggered-pole bridge pickup balances output across the strings for a consistent response under the fingers. If you want a refined, expressive Tele sound that still feels authentically vintage, this set is a compelling upgrade.

Sweet, Vintage-Inspired Tele Tone

Built around Alnico 2 magnets, Tomatillo Telecaster pickups deliver a warm, rounded attack with a smooth, rich midrange. This gives you a more forgiving, musical feel compared to hotter, more aggressive pickups, making them ideal if you live on the edge of breakup and rely on your hands for expression.

Open, Dynamic Response

Slightly underwound coils and shellac potting keep the pickups clear and responsive, resisting feedback while preserving high-end detail. The result is a more open, airy tone that reacts beautifully to picking dynamics and volume knob changes, letting you move from shimmering cleans to gritty crunch without losing definition.

Sparkling Neck Position Clarity

The open-coil neck pickup adds a touch of extra brightness and chime, helping chords and single notes stay clear even with darker amp settings. This makes the neck position particularly versatile for rhythm work, melodic leads and ambient textures where you want warmth without muddiness.

Vintage-Correct Construction

Period-correct cloth wire, fibre bobbins and staggered polepieces capture the look, feel and response of classic Fender pickups. With carefully balanced output across each string and a vintage output level, Tomatillo pickups drop into the right-handed Telecaster circuit as a faithful yet refined nod to golden-era tone.
