Product Description

Joining Epiphone's newly-conceived 'Inspired by Gibson' collection is the much adored ES-339. This stunning electric guitar provides the luscious look and versatile voice of the legendary ES-335, but follows more compact proportions for added playing practicality. Known for its ability to transcend multiple genres, the ES-339 is now available at a price-point that most musicians can afford.

Maintaining the signature semi-hollow body construction and powerful dual-humbucker formula that almost all Gibson ES guitars are known for, the Epiphone ES-339 promises a spellbinding sound with superb playability to boot!

Classic Construction

The ES-339's body is crafted from strong layered Maple, which is used to form its top, back and sides. Giving the instrument plenty of vibrancy, definition and acoustic-like volume, this is coupled with a solid Maple tone block that creates the amazing sustain and resonance that players crave from a genuine ES-339.

To add some mid-range warmth, the Epiphone ES-339's body is paired with a Mahogany neck; topped with an Indian Laurel fingerboard for a silky touch under the fingers. The neck adheres to a hand-rolled rounded "C" profile, which offers excellent comfort for traditionalists and contemporary players alike, while 22 medium jumbo frets ensure a controllable feel for vibrato and string bends.

Alnico Classic PRO Pickups

A double-dose of proprietary Alnico Classic PRO humbuckers give the Epiphone ES-339 a beautiful vintage tone. Thanks to their medium output, these pickups are highly-responsive to your picking dynamics and lend themselves particularly well to expressive playing styles. Although semi-hollow guitars are fairly synonymous with jazz, these humbuckers can sound raunchy and bold with overdrive - even distortion!

High-Quality Hardware

The Epiphone ES-339 may be a cost-effective alternative to the Gibson classic, but no shortcuts have been taken when it comes to its hardware appointments. Sporting Grover Rotomatic machine heads, a tone-enhancing Graph Tech NuBone nut and a LockTone bridge/tailpiece - you can expect rock-solid tuning stability and fast, stress-free string changes.

As an instrument for Jazz/blues this guitar delivers more than I had ever expected. Time and again you hear "how can it be so low priced?" Seeing the build quality of the instrument and having played it in for myself, I am equally amazed.

Very comfortable to hold and play, with a slightly chunky neck which is my preference. Combines the best aspects of 335s and Les Pauls. It's also heavier than I thought it would be (again for me a good thing, I don't like feather-light guitars) I was expecting SG weights and annoying neck dive. As suggested already it seems to sound somewhere between a full-sized 335 type and a solid body, which again isn't much of a surprise. Seems to have more twang than my LP which is good for my taste, which is more soul and funk. The finish is also perfect, though slightly different to the one advertised at the time of purchase. The neck fades into a natural varnish rather than the all-black paint. Also the sides are solid natural varnish rather than the fading between black and natural effect.

I’ll admit it, I’m a guitar snob! I bought this just to try out a 339 before committing to the real deal. Honesty, I no longer feel that I can justify paying £1500 for a more prestigious logo on the headstock. I’ve just fitted a Duesenberg Les Trem II, everything else, I’ll just keep stock. It’s a very impressive guitar for this price point. Just a couple of adjustments to the action and intonation and it sings. Epiphone have really raised their game. Great value.

Great for a lighter version of the 335. Superb neck and wonderful tones. Worth checking the fittings, some were loose, the tone controls had not been tightened so spun on first use. This guitar is a keeper.
