The EarthQuaker Devices Plumes Jr MOSFET Mod takes the much-loved Plumes overdrive platform and distils it into a compact, pedalboard-friendly box with a fresh MOSFET clipping voice. You get the same open, tube-like drive character, masses of headroom and clarity, but with a tighter, more immediate response that excels at everything from edge-of-breakup boost through to small-signal shred.

Built around an all-analogue circuit with JFET op-amps, ultra-high input impedance and internal voltage conversion, Plumes Jr keeps your core tone intact while adding harmonically rich drive that feels three-dimensional and amp-like under the fingers. Simple Level, Gain and Tone controls make it quick to dial in, while EarthQuaker Devices Flexi-Switch relay-based true bypass gives you both latching and momentary operation for creative, on-the-fly bursts of grit.

Compact Plumes Platform with MOSFET Character

Plumes Jr shrinks the original Plumes concept into a smaller enclosure and swaps in MOSFET clipping for a distinctively punchy, articulate drive voice. MOSFETs respond in a very amp-like way, giving you a fast attack, chewy midrange and smooth, harmonically rich saturation that works brilliantly for tight rhythm parts and singing leads. It is ideal if you love the feel of the original Plumes but want a slightly more focused, modern edge in a space-saving format.

All-Analogue, High-Headroom Overdrive

At its heart, Plumes Jr is an all-analogue overdrive designed to preserve the dynamics and nuance of your playing. Internal voltage conversion takes the standard 9V input and boosts it to +/-9V, significantly increasing headroom so your sound stays open and three-dimensional, even at higher gain settings. The result is a tube-like drive that pushes your amp naturally rather than smothering it, keeping chords clear and single notes full and expressive.

JFET Op-Amps and Huge Input Impedance

EarthQuaker Devices have replaced the usual 4558-style chip and traditional buffers with JFET operational amplifiers and an input impedance of nearly 10MΩ. This combination minimises noise, maintains signal integrity and preserves the sparkle and detail of your pickups, particularly with long cable runs or complex pedalboards. Your clean tone stays intact, with the overdrive layered on top rather than dulling your sound.

Simple Controls, Flexible Switching

With just Level, Gain and Tone, Plumes Jr is fast to set up yet surprisingly versatile. Level lets you use it as anything from a subtle boost to a loud solo driver, Gain ranges from clean and transparent through crunchy overdrive to more aggressive distortion, and the reworked Tone control offers genuinely useful shaping across its entire sweep. Flexi-Switch relay-based true bypass means you can use the footswitch in standard latching mode or as a momentary switch, perfect for quick stabs of drive or accenting specific phrases.
