Product Description
The DPA 4061 Lavalier Microphone with CORE+ is a premium miniature omni condenser designed for pristine, low-distortion capture in the most demanding professional environments. Compact and discreet yet capable of handling up to 144 dB SPL peak, it delivers a clean, balanced signal with exceptional dynamic range, making it ideal for theatre, broadcast, film, live sound and high-level musical performance.
Developed from DPA’s pioneering 4060 miniature platform, the 4061 uses the same advanced technology originally derived from hearing aids and measurement microphones. This heritage gives it a remarkably natural, transparent sound with a very low noise floor for its size. With CORE+ technology on board, distortion is neutralised across the entire dynamic range, so quiet passages remain detailed and loud moments stay smooth and controlled.
The omnidirectional capsule and pressure-operated design ensure consistent, off-axis response and freedom from proximity effect, which is perfect when the mic needs to be placed slightly away from the source or under clothing. Whether you are miking dialogue, vocals or acoustic instruments, the 4061 maintains clarity and intelligibility, even when the sound source is more remote or damped.
Engineered for real-world production, the 4061 features DPA’s MicroDot connector and is optimised for use with a wide range of wireless systems via appropriate adapters. Its robust construction, wide operating temperature range and ability to drive long cable runs make it a reliable workhorse for location work, touring shows and permanent installations alike.
CORE+ Low Distortion Technology
CORE+ elevates the 4061’s performance by significantly reducing distortion across the full dynamic range. This means subtle details are preserved at low levels while loud peaks remain open and musical, giving you more usable headroom and a cleaner, more accurate recording or live mix.
Natural, Neutral Omni Sound
The omnidirectional, pressure-operated capsule provides an exceptionally linear frequency response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, with optional soft or high boost grids to tailor the top end. The result is a natural, uncoloured sound that sits easily in a mix and requires minimal corrective EQ.
High SPL Handling in a Miniature Form
Despite its tiny 5.4 mm diameter, the 4061 can handle up to 134 dB SPL RMS (137 dB peak) with less than 1% THD and up to 144 dB SPL peak at 10% THD. This makes it suitable for louder sources and dynamic performances without unwanted compression or breakup.
MicroDot Connectivity and System Flexibility
The MicroDot connector provides a compact, secure interface that can be adapted to a wide range of wireless transmitters and wired solutions. With the appropriate DPA adapter, the 4061 can run on low-voltage wireless power or full 48 V phantom, and can drive cable runs up to 300 m while maintaining signal integrity.
Features
- CORE+ Enhanced Dynamic Performance - CORE+ technology minimises distortion across the entire dynamic range, so you capture more detail and nuance at low levels while preserving clarity and openness at high SPLs. This gives engineers greater flexibility in gain staging and mixing, especially in unpredictable live or location scenarios.
- Miniature Omnidirectional Capsule - The tiny 5.4 mm omni capsule delivers a consistent, natural sound regardless of placement angle, with no proximity effect and excellent off-axis response. This is ideal for discreet lavalier use on talent, where exact positioning can vary from take to take.
- High SPL and Wide Dynamic Range - With a typical dynamic range of 111 dB and the ability to handle up to 137 dB SPL peak at under 1% THD, the 4061 copes easily with everything from quiet speech to powerful vocal performances, reducing the risk of overload and preserving musicality.
- MicroDot Connector and Long Cable Drive - The MicroDot output and low rated impedance of 30 to 40 ohms allow the 4061 to drive cable lengths up to 300 m when used with the appropriate DPA XLR adapter. This ensures reliable signal transmission in complex stage, studio and location setups.
