Product Description
The Dingwall NG-3 5-string in Lamborghini Matte Orange is a modern rock bass built for devastating clarity, punch and playability. Combining Dingwall’s multi-scale engineering with Darkglass electronics, this NG-3 delivers tight, piano-like lows, snarling mids and a fast, comfortable feel that excels on stage and in the studio.
Developed in collaboration with Adam “Nolly” Getgood, the NG-3 distils everything he loved about his touring Combustions and custom ABZ into one no-compromise instrument. With an alder body, 5-piece maple neck, maple fretboard and three FD3n neodymium pickups feeding a Darkglass Tone Capsule preamp, this bass gives you the articulation and authority needed to cut through the densest modern mixes.
Modern Rock Powerhouse
The NG-3 was designed around the demands of progressive metal and modern rock, where extended-range riffs, drop tunings and complex arrangements are the norm. The 34–37 inch multi-scale layout keeps the low B string tight and focused, while the higher strings remain familiar and easy to bend. The result is a bass that stays clear and defined, even when you are digging in hard with lots of gain.
Comfortable Multi-scale Feel
Dingwall’s fanned-fret system feels surprisingly natural, with the fret angles following the natural splay of your hand. The 9.45 inch fingerboard radius and slim 5-piece maple neck make fast runs, wide stretches and chordal playing feel effortless. Banjo-sized frets add to the slick feel and help intonation stay precise right across the board.
Darkglass Tone Capsule Versatility
At the heart of the NG-3’s sound is the Darkglass Tone Capsule preamp, voiced specifically for aggressive, mix-ready bass tones. Dedicated bass, low-mid and high-mid controls let you sculpt everything from tight, percussive djent tones to fat, growling rock sounds. An active/passive toggle means you can instantly flip to a more traditional, organic response when needed.
Stage-ready Hardware
Tour-grade hardware keeps the NG-3 rock solid under pressure. Licensed Hipshot Ultralite tuners reduce headstock weight for better balance, while the minimalist one-piece bridge maximises sustain and resonance. A Graphtech Black Tusq nut and staggered bridge design help maintain tuning stability and consistent feel across all five strings.
Features
- 34–37 Inch Multi-scale Neck - The extended 37 inch scale on the low B delivers exceptional clarity, tension and definition, while the shorter 34 inch scale on the treble side keeps the feel familiar and comfortable. This balance makes complex riffs and low tunings sound tight without sacrificing playability.
- Darkglass Tone Capsule 3-Band EQ - With dedicated bass, low-mid and high-mid controls, the onboard Darkglass preamp lets you dial in cutting modern tones or more rounded, classic voices. The focused mid control range is ideal for carving out a spot in busy mixes, whether live or in the studio.
- FD3n Neodymium Pickups with Quad-Tone Selector - Dingwall’s FD3n pickups use powerful neodymium magnets for a punchy, articulate response. The 4-position Quad-Tone selector allows you to solo individual pickups or blend them in different combinations, giving you a wide palette of usable tones at the flick of a switch.
- Lightweight Hipshot Ultralite Tuners - Licensed Hipshot Ultralite tuners keep the headstock weight down, improving overall balance and reducing neck dive. The modified, shorter tuning pegs maintain the ideal string break angle over the nut for enhanced sustain and tuning stability.
