Product Description
The Dean ML 79 Classic Black is a faithful recreation of the guitar that put Dean on the map in 1977. With its iconic offset ML body, Eastern Mahogany construction and a pair of roaring DMT Time Capsule humbuckers, this is a hard rock and metal workhorse that delivers classic tone, huge sustain and unmistakable stage presence at a price that is within reach of working players.
Built around a set Eastern Mahogany neck and body, the ML 79 Classic Black offers the warmth, punch and resonance that defined the original Dean designs. A bound Indian Rosewood fretboard, jumbo frets and comfortable V-shaped neck make fast runs, wide bends and chunky rhythm work feel effortless, while the Floyd Rose Special tremolo invites expressive divebombs and flutters without sacrificing tuning stability. Finished in a sleek Classic Black with binding and chrome hardware, it looks every bit as mean as it sounds.
Classic ML Heritage
Since 1977 the ML shape has been Dean’s flagship design, and the ML 79 Classic Black stays true to that legacy. The distinctive body outline not only turns heads on stage, it also helps balance the guitar perfectly whether you are standing or sitting. If you want a guitar that instantly stands out and connects you to decades of rock and metal history, this ML delivers the real deal rather than an imitation.
Eastern Mahogany Power and Sustain
The Eastern Mahogany body and set neck construction give the ML 79 a thick, harmonically rich voice with excellent sustain. Chords sound full and authoritative, while single notes bloom and sing, making it ideal for everything from tight rhythm work to soaring lead lines. The set neck joint also enhances resonance, so you feel every note through the body of the guitar.
DMT Time Capsule Pickups
Loaded with DMT Series Time Capsule humbuckers in both the neck and bridge positions, this ML captures the character of classic late 70s and early 80s rock tones. They offer enough output for modern high-gain styles while retaining clarity and note definition, so your riffs stay tight and your solos cut through the mix. With independent volume controls and a shared tone, you can dial in anything from warm, rolled-back cleans to aggressive, biting distortion.
Floyd Rose Special Tremolo
The Floyd Rose Special tremolo system and locking R3 nut give you the freedom to use vibrato, divebombs and squeals without constantly fighting tuning issues. Combined with Grover 18:1 tuners, you get precise tuning adjustments and reliable performance, whether you are rehearsing, recording or gigging regularly.
