Maple Fretboard Electric Guitars

Maple Fretboard Electric Guitars

Leo Fender chose maple to create the first ever solid body electric guitar - the Broadcaster, which eventually became the legendary Telecaster. But it wasn’t by random that Leo landed on maple to make fretboards. It is a beautifully wearing, sturdy wood with a unique light colour and impressive tonewood properties.

Maple is a dense wood possessing bright snappy qualities. Those of you concerned with tonewoods will want to put its articulation and bite to good use. It’s a great choice whether you’re an old school player after glistening Fender charm or prefer a cutting high-gain tone.

Brands such as Fender, Squier, Ibanez, G&L and Charvel build many of their guitars using maple fingerboards. You’ll find it on incredibly affordable guitars right through to the high-end options.
